I have an 06 Tacoma TRD base model. I am the second owner and both he and I have been very meticulous in our routine maintenance. No major issues ever really. One day driving on the freeway I noticed she was driving rough looking down at my gages I saw that my temp was way up. Trying for the next exit off freeway my truck died and would not move. How is this possible? I know she’s getting/gotten older but there should not have been an incident like this happen out of the blue unless there’s something faulty I’m unaware of. Some sore of recall or something. New heads is $3,300-$4,000+. Anybody have an avenue for redemption out there?

Well known issue in 05 06 models

No recalls,, but IIRC there is an upgraded gasket.

Why do you think new heads are needed?
