Well, if I start another career, I know what it won't be. :anonymous:

The stone border around our front walkway has been sagging for a couple of years, I figured it's time to do something about it. There's around 80 feet of it. It was originally glued, and comes apart in irregular shapes, sizes, and weights. What a pain. It does look better though. I started on the second step, you can see it still drooping on the first step. Not looking forward to continuing.

Originally I was just going to clean it. And once this is done, I still have to. :annoyed:

You should have been going 89 miles hour!

Late to the party again. Took the red eye from Colorado to Boston then the bus to Maine. No sleep last night . Time to head to bed soon to make up for lost sleep. Was in CO so my wife could get surgery from a very specific surgeon for her AVM(Arterial Venous Malformation). She is doing well but tired and sore.

As far as the question about becoming a man or a woman, I believe the process is vastly different depending on the gender because of the varied expectations that society puts on each gender. At a basic level for me I think the determining factor is the same for each gender. When a person takes personal responsibility for their successes AND for their failures I believe they reach adulthood. As the father of two grown daughters my number one goal was to raise them to be an independent adult. If my daughters were two sons or one son and one daughter my goal would have been the same.

Well fellers, it was a day, got home at 10:30, this business of helping people is time consuming.

    Re: The man/woman question:

    Maturity.
We (people in general) tend to measure maturity in years,
you can drive at 16 (terrifying in this modern world)
you can vote at 18 (perhaps even more terrifying)
you can drink at 21 :notsure:

All numerical mile markers with a "level up" unlocked if you will - but have little to do with maturity, the person simply waits out their time and "gets" the privilege, as opposed to "earning" it.

    THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT:
I define maturity as when you look in the mirror in the morning and think "I didn't handle that situation well yesterday - I need to do better next time".

We don't become "mature" and hit cruise control, we should continue to grow and improve all our lives, always striving to be a better person.
There is always room to improve and more to learn, even about ourselves.

Working in factories is a good place to study people if one is so inclined - and frequently a sad place to study people too. When many of these people left school (by whatever means) they said, perhaps unconsciously "I showed them, I'm never going to read, learn or study anything ever again!"

Imagine for a moment -- planning to purposely not learn for the next 50 years or so.

People like this (men especially) seem frozen at a maturity age of 12-14 and tend to spend the rest of their lives:
overreacting to the most minor things
loudly absolving themselves of any kind of responsibility
they genuinely need supervision to do their jobs correctly
they always need to be told to wear ear plugs or safety glasses day after day
constantly blathering "it's not my fault", "it's not fair", "I'm not being treated well"
and generally being a pain in the @$$ every day. :frusty:

These are the same people who are the bad neighbors with loud cars, loud music and large poorly behaved dogs barking at all hours. They might be 50 years old and not have the least bit of consideration for other people.

Good morning friends. Hope everyone has a great day :hattip:

    @ACEkraut prayers for Vicki :pray:

Hope yawls day started better than mine. Cole and I were headed to Bible study this morning and pulling the red trailer loaded with lumber to return after work.

There was a fresh deer laying in the road and I couldn’t avoid it so I had to straddle it.

Well fast forward about 30 minutes and I hear a tire pop. I’m 15 minutes from church and continue on.

I knew I needed fuel and was going directly after breakfast to get it, we pull in the church parking lot and my truck shuts off. Not good with a diesel.

I text my buddy at powdercoat and ask could he bring me 5 gallons of diesel, he said yeah it’ll be a bit. I said that’s fine, we won’t be done until 8:00. I said any way you can bring your box truck so I can put this lumber in it and take it back? He said sure.

When we get out of church one of his workers is sitting on my trailer and it’s empty. His boss already put fuel in my truck and helped him move the lumber.

I’m so blessed to have such a great friend.

Got the trailer to work, when I hit the deer it bent both of my trailer axles. Explains why I have two flats with all the weight I had on it.

Thanks Everyone. I really appreciate your well wishes. She went through 3 of these surgeries 12 years ago at Mass General Hospital but there is some question in our minds now about how well they were done and some question if anyone there is qualified to do it now. This doctor in CO only treats AVMs and has patients from all over the country and world. We now wait for healing to finish then see if the surgery has done the job. A follow up visit is set for August. The scenery was pretty, and incredible. The highest point in Maine is 5267 feet and I am relatively certain we were never that low.

I’ve seen the guy at baseball that ask me about a job several times, I haven’t mentioned it. He brought it up last night.

He’s building a new facility 30 minutes from my house, he ask me to go by and see his brother in law next week. They are looking for someone to help finish the stuff going in it and stay on to help maintain it.

He said the person they are looking for needs to know how to weld and wrench.

I’m gonna go talk to them and I’m kinda excited about seeing what they have to offer.
