I’ve been machining 30 yrs 25 at my current. I’m a manual guy I like to drive I guess. The tech is a lot and I didn’t want to change. Been running a trax mill area conversational programming. I don’t want any position I just help people.
Now I’m looking to retire I program for the area troubleshooting rework inspection or in house and in coming.
Seems a trend to tax the old guys!

I first logged into the internet 34 years ago. Because of my career, I have been on the edge of tech ever since. What I love about my life is I completely check out of that world when I get home. I rarely watch tv or stream. Most I ever do is chat with you guys at night.
I had an interesting assignment recently... i go to a small church right?
Pastor told me a family was going through tough times, had already cut out everything they could, and asked me what the cheapest way they could log in to the internet to apply for jobs, pay bills, etc. They were paying $129 a month for just internet. I did a bit of research.
Now they have a new Samsung smart phone for $200 and have full access for $25 a month.

Exactly! You’re who you chose to be as a person and how to live your life.
I can choose my own characteristic and try not to let the generations sorters/lablers to characterize me as they count the cattle in the barn. :notsure:

While not as convenient as being able to do it from home, the library (mine, anyway) has computers you can use for free.

    Just an FYI. :)

I guess I don’t understand what tech you’re referring to, my dad is a boomer, born in 56. So that means he saw people land on the moon, the invention of the internet, fuel injection, ABS, OBD 1 and OBD2, and he currently is scrolling FB (im assuming) but has had the same tech his whole life? Maybe I’m struggling to understand as a simple millennial

Internet (the whole thing) had extremely limited use until the 90's.
Social media came along shortly thereafter. If your dad was born in 56 (my wife was born in 57) then for the first 34 years your dad had no tech. That's what I mean... we went from the old ways to the new ways. Your dad is a late boomer, most boomers have a very limited understanding of tech today.
Sure, everyone can use an Iphone because apple dumbed it down and locked it up so tight you can't really customize anything. Android is not much better but at least you have some control over how your phone works. You are going to find it hard to get someone over 70 to be modern tech savvy. Face book is one thing. Understanding how the algorithms in facebook work is the savvy I am talking about. Understanding how data is actually used is tech savvy. Looking at photos on Instagram is not tech savvy.

Easy on the stereotyping big guy! :rofl:Adaptability isn’t a generational thing, it’s individualistic.

Upon further research, I now find myself in Gen Jones, an on the cusp generation between the boomers and Xers.

I think birth order has something to do with what generation we identify. Being the youngest of 4, I grew up influenced by my older sibs and their friends, same goes for my friends at the time. Is it rare younger siblings influence older? I guess it happens but the older sibling trend continues.

Good morning everyone, I hope you have a nice Saturday :hattip:
