Hey guys, it’s me again

I’ve decided to replace the front vallace or as some may call the plastic brush guard. The replacement piece and clips are in hand!

I’ve seen that removing the grill gives you full access and so I’ve chosen to go that route I need to remove the grill and with it there is that connection to the Tacoma logo that I need to disconnect. Should I remove power to the battery prior to doing so? If I disconnect the piece will the piece need to be reset? Am I over thinking?

When I changed out my grill I disconnected a battery lead (POS ?? can't remember but think it was the positive) I also had to remove the power to the front sensor that was located behind the Toyota logo (I think that is what you are referring to re: connection to the Toyota logo) In my case I had to reinsll the sensor to it's new location on the new grill. All that to say the sensor did not need a re-set. After connecting everything back up it worked fine.

Same here when I installed my bumper.
Don’t think I disconnected the battery, but no reset needed.

Super easy plug and play style clip. As well as the plastic harness retainers.

‘21 OR here so not sure what the differences may be, but I think mine had 2 10mm bolts on the outer edges and then 4 or 5 of those push in, then push the center in plastic connectors.

Seems like the bottom had heavier duty plastic “clips” that had to be engaged first and then the top.

I’ll get you some pics if you want, just let me know.

Disconnecting the battery is *always* a best practice before you start unplugging harness connectors. Even a single harness connector for the adaptive speed control sensor.

As unlikely as shorting a single circuit is with weatherproof (enclosed) type connectors, you never know. Stranger things have happened.

It takes ~30 seconds to disconnect the battery, so I do not understand taking such a short cut. It is just a very bad habit. My two cents.

Does anyone know if I can do this from the removal of the plastic wheel well pieces? I heard you can peel them back enough but can’t find a good video of it.

but it doesn't take only 30 seconds. it takes me nearly a full 10 minutes to re-configure my radio, and at least another 2 weeks for the truck to get re-acquainted with my driving style. i hate fighting with my truck trying to drive around town for weeks on end, so i rarely pull the battery cables.

at work, where i build dump trucks, we never pull the battery for protection. we use 12v welding surge protectors that clip onto the battery. it makes sense there as well, as most trucks, the battery box has limited access, and usually has 3 paralleled 12v batteries. it could easily take an hour to pull power to the battery every time.

The bolt pictured is on the driver side in the larger black piece of plastic- another on same piece on passenger side.

The clip pictured is on the pass side- same thing on driver side but dog chewed that one and I haven’t replaced it.

I said earlier there were 4 or 5 clips, but didn’t see any more than the 2 just now.

Just trying to learn about a new thing, at least to me. What are these welding surge protectors?

I wouldn't recommend not disconnecting the negative terminal connection but...

When I replaced my OEM Halogen/LED Headlights with OEM LED Headlights I did not disconnect.

I was able to test the lights for connection confirmation before assembling the front end.

The system did indicate to me the TSS was disconnected. All has worked well since Feb 2022.

I've also replaced my OEM Honeycomb Grill with the Vintage Grill and did not disconnect the negative battery terminal.

This was from August 2022...TSS works fine.

I even added Raptor Lights during the process. lol
