Traded in my 2017 TDR OR 2WD SB basic trim for 29k with only 28,000 miles for a new 2023 4WD OR LB

Had a friend at the dealership help with the deal last summer.

I was due for a 2024 but decided to sit it out a little longer this time around due to the less than desirable rollout by Toyota. I plan to secure an allocation for a 2025 TRD Sport Premium this fall. I'll either trade or CarMax my 2020 TRD Sport Premium with less than 9000 miles, whichever plays out better financially due to the insane prices of these trucks. Fingers crossed!

I think I am there. Looking at several low mileage GX460’s to replace the Tacoma. I may also just sit on the money and see how the car market shakes out over the next 6 - 12 months. We have three other vehicles and a motorcycle so no rush as I am recently retired as well and most weeks don’t drive anywhere.

We just bought a 23 gx460 for my wife and the dealer said they expect the 460s to really shoot up in value now that they're discontinued. Alot of people want the v8 and barn door rear along with the less massive dimensions width wise. So basically same situation as tundra and tacoma.

Edit: I also think it's just a result of the unknown vs the known. It wasn't long ago everyone ripped the 3rd gen taco as straight trash , and now it's the opposite.

I love how every 4th gen thread I go in, people are praising the 3rd gen. I remember in 2016 when the 3rd gen came out and everyone bitched about it. 'Turd gen', everyone has called it up until fall of 2023.

No doubts in my mind the 4th gen will be successful, just like every Toyota mid size truck they ever built. Then when the 5th gen comes out, everyone will want a 4th gen. Same book, different chapter.

Spot on ! Same with Tundra ... loved the 5.7 but new model is leaps better, 6 months now and over 4k miles, not a single issue.

They had some issues with the Tundras early on but they were fixed and they have been fine since. This forum had an aneurysm when they first came out. Quiet since. Toyota always makes it right.

V6 fan boys make me laugh. I have 18 months left on my 2023 tacoma lease and you bet I will try to upgrade to a 4th gen when the time comes!

Think about it, they pay him $42, and sell it for $45-47 it is still cheaper than a fourth gen OR in most cases. The huge increase in fourth gen prices have certainly helped the third gen used market.

I’m always a bit skeptical about kbb. Maybe I, just a bit pessimistic towards these things.

Says my private party is $43k and trade in is $$39k…..I paid $43 otd last August. Car max was $35 lol

‘23 TRD OR access cab with 16k miles.

Don't know what you have until it's gone. It's not difficult to see why anyone that keeps their vehicles for decades want to limit their exposure to turbos and increased electronic components.

You should definitely get more than that, especially with the AC being discontinued. I'd shop it around a bit more. Try CarMax again after the current offer expires. That truck is going to be super desirable soon, if not already.

I’m honestly not looking to sell unless I make money, which is obviously unlikely. I still have another year or two of payments and bought a ‘23 cause it was the last year for a true access cab. If I sold this truck it would be for an entirely different vehicle, like a 4Runner
