Queue all the same people that trashed the 3rd gen, now praise them and trash the 4th gen because it's not a V6 (that everyone dislikes and needs to be tuned, regeared etc. anyway.)

edit: actually a great video. Answered a lot of the questions people ask on here.

Wait till the Tacoma 5th gen goes full EV. People who trashed the 4th will praise them and trash the 5th. Cycle of stupidity.

It's a bit irritating to hear him tout the hood insulation when it isn't a standard feature. I'm not sure what trims/packages come with hood insulation but my OR didn't.

So, Toyota didn't choose to put the money into hood insulation (instead of an engine cover). YOU put the money into hood insulation by (I assume) purchasing a high trim or upgrade package.

That’s strange. I would think that’s a mistake not an option or upgrade to get hood insulation.

I'm curious which packages have that option...either the upgrade or premium package. Maybe someone with upgrade or premium can chime in and say if it has it.

It is an option, my TRD sport did not come with the under-hood insulation and I have seen others purchase it to put on. Toyota cheaped out on this one.

The premium package does indeed come with the hood insulation.

I have hood insulation, and my hood still appears to vibrate at speeds, I intend to apply matting to see attempt to lessen vibration.

Gen4 is loaded with cost-cutting “Easter Eggs” everywhere you look, so we already knew the hood silencer/engine cover delete/upcharge was a nickel-dime play for Toyota. Refreshing to see is Sheldon admitting as much. In 2016 Sweers probably would’ve lectured on how deleting the silencer was somehow better for off-roading…

The problem is all those cost-cutting items come in conjunction with a massively increased price.

Cost cutting to bring you the new truck at a more similar price point is obviously a lot more forgiveable.

Reduced features and fewer options were a byproduct of Toyota lean manufacturing: fewer configurations meant fewer mistakes, lower manufacturing costs, and smoother operations in general. Now it seems like they've gone full hog in nickel and diming for convenience features. And they make it harder to find lower-equipped models at the same time.

It's like those neighborhoods under construction where the "starting price" has vinyl floor and Formica countertops.

I haven't watched this one yet. Saw the TFLT video with the same rolling chassis. TFL mentioned the messiness under the hood, the truck in that video looked a little more tidy UTH than what I have seen before.

lol this guy. he is not even a real engineer (in a sense as most people think of an engineer) but he shills himself as one to get more clicks. i put him in the same camp as tundra dude on my priority list (read as i dont have them at all on any list).

but thats just my opinion of what anything that comes out of his video's from him.

    ymmv
