    I'd really suspect it's the cluster, you could bypass it and see if it's fixed or try to catch it when it's not working and run through the testing.

    Interesting, I really don't know what goes bad on them or where the circuitry for the SPD signal is but since a few taps usually get's them working temporarily I always figured it was a cracked solder joint.
