In a few months, I'll be driving from Maine to socal for work.

What do you guys think I should check on maintenance wise before I make the drive.

    Recently, Ive done

    OEM clutch
    Flywheel
    Slave cylinder and lines
    Front swaybar links and bushings
    Both front calipers,pads and rotors
    Transmission fluid
    Shifter bushing
    Fixed my oil consumption issue

Things I need to check on/do

    Ball joints
    Rear brakes, including e-brake
Tie rods (5 years owning the truck and I've never checked them, oops)
AC lines rotted out, these need to be replaced and recharged
    All fluid changes
Maybe heated seats for comfort haha

    Thank you!

The list could be a never ending debate.. that said definitely check the small but important things like wiper blades, spare tire, jack & lugnut wrench, blocks of wood for the jack.. maybe some spare fuses, spare light bulbs, cheapo 12v air compressor.. seasonal and path of travel appropriate supplies..desert bring water, winter time bring a blanket in case you break down..probably best to get one of those 140 point inspections some places offer as they will try to find something wrong to make more money..

For sure, definitely will be packing on of those

I'll be packing my truck box full of tools. I'll be there for 8 or 9 months, and coming from the northeast, our junkyards are junk. So I plan on filling my bed full of rust free parts haha.

Blanket for sure. I'm waiting for my buddy's lift to get free, but I might be able to throw it on the 4post at work ( perks of working on a a navy base, full auto hobby shop) and give it a shake down

    minor tweaks
Don't forget to carry a replacement belt and I'd throw one or two gallon water jugs in the bed.

I'd suggest that if you can make the time, take the 2 lane roads when possible out west if you're not in a rush, much more scenic, calmer pace and you're not fighting traffic and the trucks on the interstate. Most of the interstates out west are 2 lanes ether way with allot of vehicles passing through and it seems most are in a hurry. Around here (I-40) becomes a parking lot if anything happens or there's construction. A slow vehicle in the right lane causes rolling slowdowns as the big trucks have to make their way around them and that's often a continuous evolution across NM and AZ. 75mph is the norm on the interstate out west so you'll be wringing it out a bit for many miles if you go that route.
