If you’re going to get a rental for drug dealing at least get one that’s faster than a cop car. It’s not hard to do. Of course don’t sit there long enough for the officer to get you plate number and give it to dispatch

"Best of Cops" / "Wheeler Dealers" / "Darwin's' Theory"... Name it: Tacoma was OK (a little under-powered for the the job (IMO). I want to buy whatever the pursuit officer was driving: "Takes a licking', keeps on ticking."

Note to bad guys: Remove the hazards-switch and throw it in the re-cycle bin.

Ya know I'm pushing 70, and I've never committed a felony in my life.
    It isn't that difficult -

It takes a special kind of stupid to try to out-run cops, especially in something like a Tacoma.

Yep, not that i was cheering for the tacoma, but more off road and less pavement might have had a chance to evade for the moment. Getting away completely in that area i believe was just a fools game. I am curious if the tacoma could drive away from the pit in 4H? Seemed like he gave up pretty quick once he was spun out. Might not have taken it out of 2wd? i never noticed front wheel traction but was hard to tell in the best camera shots. Entertaining chase, but stupid dangerous. A proper Taco owner would never consider such behavior. Ridiculous! Poor tacoma. :(

Ark SP isn't the force you want to run from, most of them seem to be aspiring Nascar drivers and they get allot of practice running down perps. Surprisingly they got no prob hanging with one at 90mph right through town, some of it's scary to watch and I cringe for the other innocent drivers sometimes.

I doubt there's much wrong with that cop car, if you watch enough of those and you'll see they really take a beating, barreling through fields only to get back on a surface street or the interstate at high speed. Surprisingly the thing I see that sometimes catches them up is brake fade causing them to overshoot a corner or pull out of the chase, most of the time there's another right there to pick it up.

There's one that's so good at it he's become a YT celebrity, Officer Byrd of the ASP, def not the guy you want on your ass. Pretty sure he's rolling the modern equiv of a police special, he doesn't have issues reeling in some pretty hot cars, a tacoma isn't much of a challenge.

I'd say this ASP officer was committed to his work.

it's called 'panic mode'. same reason most people in a tough situation just stand there.

he wasn't taking a breath, or thinking straight. i'd bet good money he lived in that apartment complex. when most people typically panic, they run for somewhere intimately familiar and safe to them, like home plate in baseball.

but it's sometimes easy to cast judgement.. i've seen the same thing with an entire fire department squad as well.. my dad went into diabetic shock while working high up on a scissor lift on a light pole(unexpectedly windy and hot day, he was sweating out faster than he anticipated, and the wind was strong enough to keep him dry, so he didn't notice he needed to drink more). the lift rental company personnel hadn't been properly re-certifying their rental lifts, and the up/down cylinder ground safety release rotted out/seized up.

i drove in from 15 miles away, and when i arrived, the fire squad had decided the only reasonable solution was to chop up the lift with all their heavy equipment saws and jaws of life to get him down because of the failed safety release(it would've destroyed at least the lift, and the new light pole at a minimum). instead, i reached up into the lift, where the stuck safety release cable went to on the cylinder and pulled, dropping the lift, until it dropped enough for them to get to him.

i've learned long ago(and am still learning!)-- first step to any situation is to take the time to blink and breath for a bit, understand where the failure occurred, how that failure is preventing progress, and what steps can be taken to overcome the failure. it seems like a waste of time in the moment, but can save tons of time, and makes one look far smarter than they really are. far too many people take the nuclear approach to the smallest problem. i'm not saying the departments idea wouldn't have worked at all, but it would've taken far longer, been more violent, and had a lot more risk of injury to everyone surrounding the area, where all i did was basic troubleshooting of the single failed component in the system.

the fact that the guy had his hazards going the entire chase indicates he failed exactly the same way, but you can also hear it in his gas pedal application as well. he wasn't thinking straight. and not thinking straight always ends poorly.

Some of you mansplaners need to just enjoy the show. Whether rented, borrowed, stolen or owned, he tried to outrun the cops in a Tacoma.

    The only thing

If you had to asses this situation, where is the exact point you would say "the failure occurred"? :D

the part where he started dealing drugs out of a rented tacoma.

but there's also more intelligent ways to go about it. if he had just had teh guy jump in the passenger seat, they do the deal while he drives around the block, and then drops the guy back off at the same location, no one would be any wiser.
