Alright tacomaworld I need some input on a decision between two tacomas one is a green 99 with 140,000 miles on it and the other is a light purple 2000 with 230,000 miles on it. The thing with the 99 is that it might need the valve cover gasket replaced. The 99 is selling for $6,700 and the 2000 goes for $7,300

Valve cover gasket is a rookie DIY, a non consideration.

+1 on valve cover being non issue.. 140,000 mile 99. Has been babied too would be my guess, Which owner is older and retired? lol

    minor tweaks
Might be able to use the valvecover leak as a negotiating point also.

I wouldnt buy unless you can start it cold.....and watch for bubbles coming out radiator....

And check for the white smoke.

A lot of times they've been sitting for a reason...

    Engine 2.7 's ??.......both autos?

I would lean towards the 99, unless it was poorly cared for.....ei oil burner....
    engine pics might reveal that....

I'd be extremely invasive buying 25yr 7K truck....

Id pull plugs.....and even compression test...

with a tag team buddy you could do all that in less than 10min

Well done, 4 threads in 40 minutes. The green 99 seems like the better buy, you posted pics of the frame, looks clean, but regardless of what you plan to buy, you’d be wise to have it looked at by a reputable mechanic.
