How do these new 4th gens drive compared to the gear hunting 3rd gens?

    Better/smoother? Worse? Same?

I currently own a 3rd gen. I am just curious and considering my future options...

Any wants or need for tuning on a 4th gen? OTT, KDMax etc...

    Thank you all!

The 4th gen will still hunt a little bit, but you do not notice it at all. It's the nature of an 8 speed (I also have a 2023 Camry with an 8 speed automatic). Since the engine has its torque band much lower it won't try and downshift on every little hill. Shifting seems much smoother compared to my first 3rd gen I had. It does have some better programmed engine braking into it, even in regular "D" mode. Flooring it to pass it doesn't hesitate like the 3rd gen does; it just flat out goes.

If you test drive one you will probably buy it, it's that much improved.

Better/smoother. Had my 2016 OFF ROAD 6-SPEED AUTO for 8 years 118000 miles and pretty much took the way it drove for granted. In my opinion my 2024 OFF ROAD 8-SPEED is a Major upgrade. 435981901_7400994219966288_5611526949442313778_n.jpg
