I have a 3rd Gen and can't close the tailgate with a full size dirtbike in the back. But you CAN if the front wheel is on the wheel well, it's just sketchy so I don't do it. The 4th Gens wheel well doesnt butt up agaisnt the front of the bed, so does anyone know if it's possible to close the tailgate with a full size dirtbike in the back?

Highly doubtful, still the same length. Just run it with the tailgate down.

Sick setup. But not being able to close the tailgate is a deal breaker for me for next truck I get. The lack of security from not being able to lock the tailgate with my bike in the back is a constant struggle. Anyone that knew what they were doing could steal my bike from the back within 2 minutes easy since they wouldnt have to lift it over the bed. I see it as a major deterrent at least.

Sounds like you need a longbed. Ran a longbed for my 15 and could close gate.

I just keep insurance on my bike, like for $90 a year, it includes theft and I just don't worry about it.
