The city has gotten out of hand. No accountability and will be getting worse with the looming recession.

 

I don’t think recession or boom times affects Oakland. It’s simply on the highway to hell and ain’t nothing gonna turn it around.

 

Oakland Is a Shit Hole!

 

East Oakland born and raised. Definitely declining and sad to see. Among other things like the drug issues and being a sanctuary city for homeless. Of course the list goes on. Funny reading some comments. If you’re scared go to church .

 

I was also born and raised in east oakland. It’s not a matter of being scared it’s a matter of using common sense and staying out of areas where crime, shootings, knifing, mugging , murder, rape and other crime are less prevalent. Come to think about it I don’t know if there are any areas like that. Perhaps above MacArthur Blvd. but even there things are a little dicey.
I hadn’t been to Oakland for several years and a while back I met a friend there at Quinns Lighthouse for lunch. Couldn’t believe what I saw. Looked like a war zone. All the houses and businesses had bars on the windows, graffiti and homeless everywhere. Zoned out drug addicts wandering all over. Over all it appeared post apocalyptic. Oh by the way after 40+ years in business Quinn’s closed for good a couple months ago. Even the professional sports teams saw the light and left Oakland. I will never set foot in Oakland again.

 

This is why Oakland can't have nice things.
