I had to paint my roof and hood after 13 years but wasn't mad about that. The rest of the truck held up pretty well. I had a $9k estimate to professionally paint my whole truck and decided to put that $ into the GMC. I think paint got worse when they moved MFG out of the states. Toyota paint warranty is 3/36 and it doesn't seem they help much outside of that. Very disappointing.

Just called corporate, expressed my background & the gamble I was taking wanting to love the product, etc...
They opened a case, they said give it a day & someone will reach-out...

As of this evening, Writer just called me & explained that a body shop representative was instructed to take pictures of every tape mark / flaw & upload it to my case & send it off to toyota for review along with estimate & what is needed....
Not getting hopeful, but its a start & not being blown-off at this point...

At this point the best case is they're gonna repaint the affected panels. They're not gonna replace the vehicle.

I will not accept & repaint & will continue the course....
Too many panels will need to be repainted, I didnt go over the truck with a fine-tooth comb.
    Along with diminished value, etc...
I didnt pay $40k to get my truck repainted at 500 miles due their poor practices, I will not go down that road.
Their crappy factory paint will outlast a repaint...
Ive been at this long enough..
Ill just leave it at that..

Let them go through their process & we'll see what the outcome is...

Amen! You only get one crack at factory paint. Even good body shop paint is still “painted up”. And yes, diminished value.

This is horrible and I hope you get a fair resolution but stuff like this factors into why I lease. You always have the option of buying the vehicle at buyout if you are happy with the factory finish and reliability and if not then you trade it in close to the end, get a bit of equity and find another vehicle.

The QC in Mexico is almost nonexistent, my 2023 that was sold had some QC issues too.

If I buy another Toyota I’m gonna put it under a microscope and do more extensive testing.

Tough on the eyes. Not sure lemon law will be applicable here but I’m curious. Good luck.

Paint doest qualify for lemon law...
But already have 2 repair order / ac concerns documented. Im just going to hold-off an all mods. Sure something else will come up in due time.
I will not agree to repaint or correction at all, what so ever in this circumstance to the degree of the paint butchery...
Yes Im requesting a replacement truck that wasnt painted with a dead chicken....
Not too much to ask for considering what I paid, condition of the finished product "paint" that theyre putting out there in my situation.
We will see, maybe wishful thinking on my part.
This isnt just a few panels,
The truck was dirty, it was late, my eyes suck, im sure theres plenty more...
I didnt even check the passenger side at all cuz of position in the garage...

My old boss has seen the Ford painting facilities & wasnt even aloud to enter / tour them due to strict guide lines they follow. He was telling me theres 3 different rooms where theres an automated process to clean the person entering the area....
That really doesnt matter, but this shouldnt have passed any inspection process. If they even have one implemented...

Hopefully they will agree to take the hit in this situation. Do a paint correction & sell it as a used car. I dont care what they do, just make me whole.
Repainting an entire truck isnt cheap these day & legit dealer body shops dont cut corners, they de-trim everything, remove windows, etc...
I should have to go through that with a truck that I didnt damage & shouldnt have been sold in the condition it was in...

Highly unfair for them to take the road of, "sorry you should have seen it & refused to buy it"
    Not our fault...

I'm stunned looking at those photos. After I retired from the USAF I supervised a large Ford dealer body shop for five years. I used to kick back cars to the paint shop for just some dirt in the paint or a little orange peel. My worst painter never put out anything even approaching a tiny fraction of those issues. I have been looking for another truck for years but nothing interested me until all these new gens suddenly all came out at the same time. Won't do Generic Motors because they screwed me too many times with their junk. I'm not impressed with Nissan's inexplicable super heavy steering. I was leaning heavily toward Toyota even though I've never owned one but heard nothing put praise for them. But one problem after another has me leaning toward the Ranger even though I still think Toyota dealers and service departments are better than Ford. But damn, this 4th gen is looking like a comedy of errors. And They should be ashamed if they don't buy back your truck with embarrassing defects like that. I mean do they really want that truck out on the street advertising their "quality"?

What happens is the cartels come into the paint shop and kill all the workers then they try to paint the vehicles themselves.

OP, best of luck with a good resolution. Pretty bad that Toyo let that truck out the factory doors in that condition. For that kinda money you deserve much better.

Is Toyota's white paint still single-stage with the 4th gen?

I remember when I had my 2017 Sport I found this out the hard way. A tree by where I was parked at work dropped some sap on the hood. It was a sunny hot summer day but we are talking hours not days.

The sap was baked in so deep there was nothing I could do to get it out. Nothing. I marred the hood trying to polish it out and had to go to a pro to remove the marring and it was there I found out that Toyota uses 1 stage application for white paint meaning the paint and clear coat are the same layer. The guy couldn't get it out either and just polished it to remove the scratches I put in. Wherever my old truck is today it still has this stain.

    Ridiculous.
