Hi, I have a 2015 Tacoma TRD Pro with the factory radio Entune Plus with GPS and SirusXM. The radio stopped working after a popping sound came from behind the HU last week and now Nothing works on the radio any more other than the Bluetooth keeps connecting and disconnecting from my phone. I was going to upgrade the HU and speakers and actually have it all picked out from Crutchfield but the truck is no longer my daily driver. I maybe drive it 4-6 times a month so was thinking about finding a used OEM unit and swap it. Quick and easy.

if I can find a factory HU in great shape, is it just a plug and play swap or is there going to be some issues with the VIN number? Meaning are the radios tied to a specific VIN?

Does anyone have a factory OEM radio with navigation that they are wanting to sell by chance? There are lots on eBay but a bit worried about.

    thanks in advance

No vin issues luckily. If you can find one, it will work

That is great to hear. I was doing some research and found some discussions on the vin# causing issues.

hopefully someone chimes in and has one they want to sell

With etune you do need the vin number off your vehicle if in the US, years ago we up in the great white north we’re buying etune radios from a member out of Florida and he provided a correct vin number to enable the radio. Since you had an etune already you just need to put your vin in if it asked you for it. A popping sound means a capacitor has let go, you are lucky you got this much time out of it. I am on my third radio, twice under warranty and once out of a wrecking yard that has failed also. Problem with some wrecking yard radios is that the truck sits at an auction yard for a while and if it has a broken windshield the water gets into them. The radios are plug and play except the JBL ones where the wiring is different due to the amp, 2016 to 2019 will also plug in and play but the radio is too wide and tall but nobody makes a faceplate for the swap unfortunately.

Thanks @CITY TACO, I was wondering that after I was looking online for used radio’s and some of the radios are supplied with the VIN#’s that the radio came from.
