IMG_0424.jpg IMG_0423.jpg IMG_0422.jpg I recently went through a car wash and the black molding around my windshield started coming off. I noticed that there is now no molding above the windshield and it appears that there may have been some previously, however all of the research I have done to confirm whether there was of not doesn’t help. Does anyone know if there should be a strip above the windshield or not. See images of my windshield.

There isn't. My Tacoma is the same. Wish there was as that front edge of the roof and the little crack gets pelted by bugs that can be annoying to remove.

No strip across the top. Side strips shouldn't come off in a car wash, usually the roof strips come off during the blow drying though. Ski

Thank you @Homiec and @skidooboy I so appreciate the responses and confirmation. My bad @skidooboy, I meant to say the roof strips…not the side windshield strips so thanks for the confirmation.

You can either tape the roof strips down in a few places, prior to going through the wash, and removing tape after. Or you can apply an adhesive, like windshield urethane adhesive to the front, mid, and rear of the strips, to lock them into place permanently.

Warning though... the urethane is worse than anti seize... It gets EVERYWHERE, even if you are cautious and careful... So be EXTRA CAREFUL with it. Once on clothes, it isnt coming off ever so, dont wear anything nice, or what you like. Wear rubber/nitrile/latex gloves. Once on skin, it has to "wear off". It also needs to be cleaned up with an acetone type solvent, to get it off anything else, prior to it curing, or partially curing.

But the strips will never come off again. Ski
