My 2007 V6 is engaging the a/c clutch a few seconds after starting then disengaging after a few more seconds. It is not warm enough yet for A/C to kick in but I have noticed the A/C dashboard indicator is flashing.

Is this sequence normal? Turning the a/c pump occasionally through the winter might be a good design but the flashing indicator is suspicious. I can switch it off manually but it is flashing after every start and I can feel the a/c clutch engaging.

It's normal for the A/C to turn on when the control is set to defrost or floor/defrost.

The flashing A/C light is when the A/C amplifier does not detect a speed signal from the compressor lock sensor after commanding the MG CLT relay on, when this happens it will disable the compressor and flash the A/C light.

    Possible causes are:
Open or shorted wire(s) in the lock sensor circuit
    Bad lock sensor
Internal problem in the compressor/locked up compressor
Open or shorted wire(s) to the MG CLT relay
Open in the wire from the MG CLT relay to the compressor
    Failed compressor clutch
    Belt slipping
    Failed A/C amplifier

GL! Compressor clutch or tensioner most likely! My 2013 blew all 3 & had a terrible smell & noise

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Replace the relay in the fuse box before anything else..

Thanks for the responses and making me aware of the A/C ECU which led me to this post : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/a-c-amplifier-help.624522/. I had not realized there were so many ECUs!
I will probably remove the fuse to disable the engagement on start until I can get underneath. I suspect the compressor clutch.
