Delivery Tracking by VIN?

They have and the truck is due at the dealership next week. My question was, given the fact that the last six digits are 017919, does that mean my truck was assembled the first week of this year or does that coding system only apply to temporary VINs? Sorry if my question was not clear.

 

It was clear but I think it was my last answer that was not clear since I just responded temp vins. So the build date code applies to the temp vin.

 

Not sure about that. I've got deposits on two OR's. Both VINs would indicate week 15, but dealers confirm they aren't built yet, but expect delivery end of May, early June. Week 15 would have been second week of April.

Maybe they were initially scheduled for week 15, but production delays, etc....

 

this is just a guess but I think the permanent vin is just a serial for that plant, so your truck would be 17919 to be assigned/roll off the floor in what ever plant it was made.

 

I put down deposit on TRD Sport, my dealer was getting from another dealer. Was to be built next day. Took a few days and then it appeared on the other dealers inventory (web site) with availability date. The date has been moving up some. You can try searching inventory on your dealers/dealer of trade, etc. Can usually find your vehicle by price, options, color, etc.

 

valid vin last 6 digits are (if i am correct) are sequential and dont reset by year.

so current tacoma will have a "R" in the vin to denote 2024, which will be 2 characters left of the 6 digit sequence number
