I have the 7163 currently, so the largest of the B1 frame turbos.

Did some mockup today with the parts that I had on hand. I ordered a couple of silicone couplers but it’s looking like this will be possible after all. I had to cut the lower half of the box to clear the wastegate canister, so I’ll have to patch that up. I plan on building some brackets to mount it tomorrow or this weekend. The plan is to use a 90* 3.5-2.5” coupler and another 90* 2.5” coupler with a piece of tubing in between it to get the bends I need. This is from a 3rd gen v6 tacoma. Also trying to find a MAF block off plate so I can get rid of that

And now to mate it all together properly. Good mock-up.

Thanks, I am pretty pleased with how quickly it came together. I’ve had the itch for a stock style intake for a while now

A MAF sensor IS a MAF blockoff

    :anonymous:

If you could find a 10+ 4Runner TRD intake, it doesnt have the port on the box, but rather the runner tube, so would be deleted that way.

ah, maybe not...looks like main air tub is more in center of box, instead of forward like yours

Functionally it will definitely work, but the sensor is disrupting flow where it’s at now, so there is a little room for improvement. I dug around for a while last night but couldn’t find anything so I may have to make something if there isn’t another lid or something that has it deleted.

That’s a great thought on the TRD lids, I didn’t think of that, but I see what you’re saying now. The options are a bit limited here due to packaging unfortunately. There are quite a few things that want to occupy the same space

    Shouldn't be but a 30 minute swap.

It certainly did! I had them put a low boost EFR canister on it so I need to test the waste gate and swap the drain flange over but then it will be ready to go

Got the BW EFR 6258 installed today. I need to do a little wastegate adjustment so it probably has to come back off, but it’s temporarily installed for now. Here’s the 6258 and the 7163 side by side. I’m not changing much on the tune yet because I’m hoping to wrap up the stock air box soon

3rd gen air box installed, just need to build some aluminum brackets to hold it in place. Now the tuning can begin!

Kudos on pretzeling everything in there. Looks like a few twist and turns that you had to contend with.

Thanks! Yeah there are some tight turns going on there. I think I’m going to build something out of aluminum to clean up some of the clamps, but that’s a project for another day

Ordered some 9.0:1 compression .020” over/ 95.5mm CP Carrillo pistons last week to go with my Pauter connecting rods. Also ordered the pro valve spring kit from LCE with +1mm intake and exhaust valves and dual valve springs with titanium retainers. Engine is back on the stand and will be torn apart soon and then once the pistons arrive it will be off to the machine shop. Looking forward to the next chapter of this build
    IMG_2983.jpg

also worked on the upper intake lid to free up some flow. Secondary air filter removed, MAF cut off, and flow straighter removed too. Makes a little more noise now but it’s still pretty quiet

Remind me again... any headwork? Which camshaft?

Very nice components in your build!

Thanks Eddie! This has the stock cams and I will be keeping those for now. The valves will be upgraded though as well as the springs so I can raise the redline a little. I don’t think anyone makes off the shelf cams for the 2TR, but Webb offers regrinds so you can send in the stock ones to be modified. I might do that at some point but for now I am going to keep it simple

This is some exciting progress in the build, good stuff . What do you plan to do about the intake manifold considering you’ll be about to shoot for the stars?

I ran 15psi a while back with the URD SC so I am going to keep the stocker for now.. Eventually the plan will be to fabricate one out of aluminum that will accept a larger throttle body too so that can be upgraded at the same time. I am curious at what point it becomes the weak link though. I bet it won’t tolerate more than 15-20psi over the longer term
