    Hello,

Does anyone know How Many quarts of Toyota long life coolant the engine radiator needs for a drain and fill?

Does the 2002 1st gen 2.7L 4 cyl Tacoma SR5 prerunner also have an "engine drain plug" on the engine block to drain engine coolant?

I saw on a YouTube video that you open the bottom of radiator drain plug. There is also an "engine drain plug” on the engine itself. Video is for the 3.4L engine 6 cyl Tacoma.

Drained and filled power steering with dexron II ATF and fluid is now ruby red from black. The steering wheel noise also corrected itself after the change. Quiet and smooth steering wheel

    Thanks for any help

I found the radiator drains out about a gallon of coolant. The total capacity of the system is a little over 2 gallons which you can drain out by opening the drain. The 2.7 does have a engine drain but it was kinda difficult to access for me.

Easiest way is to get some coolant concentrate and like 6 gallons of distilled water (~$1 at Walmart) and just do a lot of drain and fills with the radiator. Just drain out the old coolant from the radiator petcock, fill it back up with distilled water, go on a drive (or idle until the engine warms up because the thermostat needs to open so that coolant can cycle through and mix), then repeat until whatever coming out of the radiator is clear. At this point all there is left in the cooling system is distilled water so then you can pour the gallon of coolant concentrate you have into the radiator and it'll be just at that 50/50 antifreeze mix you want (though you can adjust this by adding more or less concentrate).

Unfortunately with this method you can't use the pink super long life coolant because Toyota doesn't sell that in concentrate form. The old red long life can be bought as concentrate but imo there's really no difference between the aftermarket Asian stuff and that. I've been using this for awhile now (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PN828C...amp=&crid=2AXT2PDWB50OZ&sprefix=peak+oet&th=1), they sell it at AutoZone and Amazon.

    Hi,

I would like to attempt to open the engine drain plug first. Can you show me on a picture where it is or some other way of explaining location?

If not I'll have to go the other route.

    Thank you for your help.
