Recently posted about an accident I was in where I got ran off the road and thought my axle snapped. Turns out the frame was bent so my insurance is claiming the truck as totaled and its bent badly...So while the insurance stuff is processing, I am shopping for a new Tacoma.

I previously had a 2011 TRD Offroad with 3 inch Icon suspension lift, 33 inch mud terrain Thunderer tires, J&M shifter, ditch lights and a light bar with skid plate. Just put in a nice soon system too a week before the accident! This truck was my dream truck Ive wanted since a child. And now it's gone :(. I need some opinions on a new build.

I have been down lately with a broken leg as well, so I need to buy myself something nice to bring some happiness back into my life after this mess. I love 2nd gen Tacomas. So much but I am considering a 3rd gen now. I am planning on taking the Icon stage 3 lift kit off my totaled truck and slapping it on the new one. Question I have is, should I use Icon or what is the deal with King and Fox suspension lifts? I don't necessarily need the smoothest ride. I will be using my truck in Hawaii to go off-roading often to get to secluded beaches for camping and such. Some medium rock crawling will be happening on lava rock. Would you recommend using my old icon lift or should I go with Fox or King? Not sure what one is best. A smooth ride would be kind of nice as well but I don't prioritize that..I want great, reliable performance.

Also, before I were to lift it, can I just slap the 33 inch tires on there? Or will the rub if I am starting fresh with a new truck. I will be looking at 2018 and up. Ideally the forest green or that light blue color. Just don't want the tires rubbing before I get the lift on there as things move slowly in Hawaii so I don't know when a shop will get around to doing that work on my new vehicle.

I will also be putting the ditch lights on my new truck and light bar. Might get new ditch lights since mine were old-ish and rusting. What is the pricing on installing light bars and ditch lights? Essentially I am trying to slap the parts from my previous truck on my new one and am wondering what I should expect to pay for that if anyone has an idea. Hope Im posting in the right place. Also seeking new wheel recommendations, specifically bronze ones for the forrest green as I love the look. What wheels are you guys running and why did you choose them? thanks in advance. This past week has been difficult accepting my truck is no more. Here is a picture of what she looked like before the accident.

Thats a good looking truck, sorry to hear about your accident:(

I get the impression you're mostly ok physically though, and thats definitely the more important of the two!

Lots of good truck questions, but all of my experience is with first gens so I don't know if it translates. That said, from what I gather any of your suspension choices would be excellent, and the differences are mostly imaginary or minimal. Spring weight will probably be your biggest variable.

I know its cliche but use the search icon! all your wheel, tire, and fitment questions can and likely have been answered there. I find using as few words as possible helps, like '3rd gen 33s' for example

Heal up and (circumstances aside) happy truck shopping!

Sorry to hear about your accident mate

Icon 2.5 shocks and coilovers are a lower end comparable to fox and king if I’m not mistaken so they are pretty good. Im sure they can be rebuilt as well so I would personally stay with them. Fox and king are definitely the best out of the 3 but not by too much unless you are hammering the hell out of your shocks.

You would probably have to trim a bit to fit 33’s regardless of lift. Lift only fits bigger tires at ride height. You will always have to cut to clear bigger tires to be able to cycle your suspension while turning. 0 offset wheels are good for 3rd gen’s. They have a decent stance and enough room to clear the uca for the most part. I’m running some stealth custom series wheels f5’s and like em a lot.
