I got a Liberty Safe that holds something like 28 rifles. The plan was always to keep half of it as shelves though so that we could get rid of all of those cube safes we were using for documents an old family jewelry that wasn't worth anything but scrap value to anyone else (sentimental to us). Figured 28 / 2 is 14 and that would be a good number. NOPE a 14 rifle safe will hold only about 8 rifles. The only way you get 14 in there is to completely ignore any organization and jam them in like they are WWII Surplus and not worth being Re-Arsenal'd. The Gun Safe Industry (ESPECIALLY LIBERTY) is such a scam. If I had it to do over I'd still get what I got (maybe not a Liberty, but similar) because it does what I need it to do and was affordable but the amount of BS and marketing lies is amazing.

I’ve been trying to figure out safe configurations for a while. The closest one be come is doing away with shelving or compacting it more and basically having all gun space. All the organization kits I’ve seen look like they take up more space

This helped me, until more rifles showed up. I think it worked better alternating between barrel up and barrel down.

I have 24 rifles in my "23gun" colonial with rifle rods Plus other stuff. I took out all of the factory shelving and started from scratch when I bought it.

I don’t remember what the manufacturer said was the rated capacity of my safe when I bought it, but I think it is 45cuft and I did get the collector shelves. When I discovered rifle rods I’d been looking at new safes again as mine was full. I was able to double the capacity of my safe using the rifle rods. I still ended up getting an another safe, but not until several years later.

All the Manufacturers must be using Winchester model 94s without any optics to determine how many guns they can fit inside.

Anyone used the Secureit safes? I know they're not fire rated...I don't care about that...but how is the quality as far as the steel box and grid wall?

    Anyone seen my wallet?
i love mine, and my friends love theirs too. I wanted to mention it but figure itd get more hate than love.

i needed something lighter weight and modular since i live in a historic area with 100 yr old houses with wood floors/crawl spaces.

Its been great really, the organizational accessories keep things where should be and easy to get to

Not rapid fire by any means, but not super aim and shoot. With a red dot. I suck with iron sights, much more so than I did here. Pistols are frustrating.

Since I refuse to put a second safe in my garage, a larger one won't fit where my current safe is, these seem like a solid expansion solution that I can put in various rooms

    Agreed or Red Ryder's.
I've got a few huskier rifles with optics.
And shotguns or long distance guns are taller than the top shelf so they have to cant across the safe.

    Same crap everyone else got
This is my solution. But I'm lucky and have one that was left to me so I just gotta move it. But if I were to have to buy a new one I'd still just buy a second one over selling my current one and buying larger.

This is the way. Safes really only buy you time and keep honest people honest. If yours isn’t bolted down it really may as well not be there. If someone has 30 minutes they can absolutely get it out of your house and gone before you get home from your grocery store run.

When I bought my safe, bought a 48 gun safe with storage pouches on the door. Left the shelves in for jewelry, paperwork and small valuables. Soon I was running out of space. So I got pistol storage pouches, deleting the pistol racks. Then I bought another safe partly to split my stuff in two locations in the house, Partly because a bigger safe wouldn't fit without a lot of effort.
Years later I unbolted them, and put them on a furniture dolly, fully loaded, so I could put down hardwood. Was amazing how easy it was to move once the boltsbwere removed. Next day, in the middle of hardwood installation, bolted back down.

Is Wilson Combat still a thing?

I had a bunch of their guns a few years back, gave some to my dad, some still sit in my safe, never fired.

They show up in my mailbox every once in a while with their magazine sales.
