Why did they need replaced? That’s suspicious

So you get new rotors more often than oil changes? Are these being replaced under warranty, or they convince you this is normal?Hmm...Everything is not fine.

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
How’d you get to the dealership twice that soon? What’s the backstory or what were the drivability issues that brought you there?

If they hoodwink you again, or before they do, ask to see the old rotors and explanation/measurements.

I thought rotors were good to about 50000+- depending on driving style and conditions

It's hard to say without seeing the whole story. I dont think they are overheating but possibly theres an issue with pulsation and they are tossing rotors at the problem.

I've seen out of round axles trick techs into changing rotors.

Thanks for the replies I took it to dealer at about 3000km the brakes were pulsating replaced under warrenty.Took it again for same reason at 5500km dealer said rotors were warped again and if it happens again I have to pay out of pocket.I told them there has to be something going on rotors don't just warp. You only notice when braking at higher speeds.Anyhow I will be talking to dealer next week. Thanks for the replies

That doesn’t sound right, they warranty the first two, but then say you have to pay for the third? Seems they should find the actual reason for rotor failure or the actual reasons for the pulsating if they’re not it.

It's probably pad material transferring onto the rotor surface. Do you hold the brake pedal down hard at the bottom of hills? Or just sitting at lights? It sounds kinda counterintuitive but you should try and avoid doing that as much as possible.

I had a pulsating vibration when braking from 55-35MPH with 40K miles on my factory brakes. I put PowerStop on and very happy after 15K miles.

A lot of shops will turn new rotors before installing just as a precaution for out of round spec. Find a new dealer/brake shop though.

Agree... Very rare that rotors warp. 99.9% it's pad transfer/ build up on rotors. Must be his driving//braking habits.

^^^^ Pad transfer and flash rusting are the main causes of pulsation just like na8rboy just said. With that said my truck has 66k miles and sits all week (driving it on weekends, I always drive away with rusted rotors) and I have no rotor pulsation at all…….original pads and rotors.

Do the new rotors actually fix your issue? My truck does have a brake vibration but it’s done it from day one and it’s from the rear……..from about 25mph to a full stop the rear brakes shudder slightly. It’s very common on these trucks, there are tsb’s but it just doesn’t bother me.

Define ‘higher speeds’. Long, downhill highway? Steep hills? For the original, first replacement, and second replacement to be doing the same thing, sounds like driving/braking habits.
