What length bolt is needed if you have to crank the drum all the way off? Would like to pick up a couple in advance of doing some service work.

    2"? Shorter?

I have only used them in the past to break the bond between the drum and the hub. I have some 30mm long ones. Unless its the brake shoe catching in the ridge in the drum (in which case bolts wont help) you shouldn't need to crank them all the way off. and don't mean to suggest that you need bolts that long. Just what i happeed to have on hand.

And when it comes time for new drums a coating on anti seize on the hub/brake drum connection might be a good idea as well.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Anything above like .5" would be fine. It can't be too long you just need the front threads to break it free.

Any comments about the available material for rear brake shoes? There are organic, semi metallic and ceramic (there was mention that Toyota brake shoes are ceramic). Only manufacturer that mentions ceramic is Brembo.
Have been quite happy with the Akebono ACT ceramic front pads but as for rear brake shoes I only have the factory shoes at the moment.
