Not to bush on a shop but I wouldn't go to SHAFFERS OFFROAD. I had 10k worth of work done at their shop and they held on to my FJ Cruiser for 3 yrs, Shaffers said it would take 3 months, 3 months became 3 years. WTF!
The job was for a Currie F9 rear axle 3 link LT which should have not taken 3 yrs. The job was fully paid upfront.

My rear end is making noise, I broken in the gear properly did all city driving with no highway. He said to bring it in but I am afraid he will blame it on the break in period which he will make pay for a new set of gears and hold my truck for another year just for him to complete. Also rear is 1/2" off to right. Pretty annoyed.

Working with another shop now to do other work on the FJC to put on an LSK LT.
This shop does good work. Met him at the BAMF meet and greet I kept in touch with Miguel owner of Midnight garage in Fremont he is now my go to.

There is always two sides to a story. I’d love to hear Mikes take on this. I’ve always known him to be a stand up fella.

Auto Innovations in Milpitas is on point! If you are in the east/south bay and need an alignment Orlando is super chill, reasonably priced and good at what he does.

I have them work on my land cruiser, and now my Tacoma now that I don’t get free services from Toyota anymore.

Hey everyone- wondering if anyone knows of a shop in Sacramento that will re-boot my cv axle? The three I’ve spoken with so far only want to replace it.

I could do it myself, but I’m not going to lie, I’m lazy and don’t want to If push comes to shove and I can’t find a shop that will, I’ll do it myself. But I’d much rather just have someone else do the work.

    TIA!

    Jim

I tried the same thing but with shop prices the way they are it was about the same as buying new OEM cv axles. Ended up rebooting them myself, wasn't hard just messy.

Yeah, Im sure you’re right. I’m lazy

I did the ECGS bushing swap a couple years ago with a friend and it’s basically the same job with regards to pulling the CV, just have to service the CV while it’s off.

I think the only tool I’ll need is a larger torque wrench.
