I know I have an old truck (1982 4x4 stock), and I want to see if this is normal for an old truck. My front leafs are pretty much negative as far as I can tell, and I don't know if this is normal. Also, whats with this black shit all around the knuckle that's dripping down onto my tire?

The leafs look like they could use a refresh and all that black shit looks like axle grease, axle seal needs replaced.

Refresh = new or maybe you can have those bent back to a positive arch, but given their age.... I am guessing new would be the way to go.

I am not sure, but that's typically what a axle seal issue looks like.... could be the wheel bearing, but that's a lot of grease/oil.

I am expert or a mechanic... I am only going by what I have seen and read on here. Since I don't have a 82', I kinda skim read and don't absorb all the specifics.

Im not looking forward to this lol. So, because I went offroading do you think that I could have possibly bent my axle? I've been reading on it and this also happens when you bend one.

I mean, it's possible you bent the housing or a shaft. But it's an old truck and is probably just need of some maintenance.

I didn't do anything to hard, the most I went over was some rocks. 3rd gen for scale.
I think I might be overreacting. I'm sure its just maintenance.

Show that truck some love and give it some new parts. You might want to change out the differential oil and look at all of the rubber hoses/belts/seals and see what else needs some work.

It looks to me as though your steering knuckle wiper/seal are leaking. On a truck of this age I would rebuild the knuckles with seal/bearing kits. Check for axle housing straightness as I have seen more than one bent housing.
    Here is an example:

Im looking into those rebuild kits, and I recently changed the front diff oil, t-case oil, trans oil, and engine oil.

If it's bad you can tell by looking at it. The last one I played with the axle wouldn't come out of the housing on the driver's side

I forgot to update. I cleaned it up, mostly, and the leaking has somewhat slowed. I also checked the front diff oil, there is no water, but it does have this brown tint. I think its because of the black oil that I changed out of it a couple months ago, but I could be wrong.

Sorry for the slew of questions, but:
-Could It be that the grease is mixing with the oil? Is it urgent?
    -Is my shit fucked?
-Also, I dont know if I read this somewhere, but can I put off the rebuilds for a little bit?

    Oil (almost new 80w-90):

Figure I’d put this here and revive.

RAS is good stuff if you’re planning on keeping the stock height.

I’m liking it a lot. New OEM leaf packs with RAS. 300lbs load.
