I was performing a tranmission drain and fill service. I couldn't find the jumper cable that I normally use and I decided to use a paperclip to put the truck in diagnostics mode to check the fluid level. In the middle of jumping pin #4 to pin #13, the paperclip end that should have jumped to pin #13, touched one of the pins (#14, #15 or #16) while the truck was on and cuased a spark. I completed the level check but then afterwards the truck would not turn on. Everytime I try to turn it on there is a really loud repeating click. I don't know if it sounds like a stuck starter or a relay clicking repeatedly. Needless to say, it's probably not a good idea to jump the pins while he truck is on.

Where do I even begin to troubleshoot this shit?

Just to clarify, it was pin 4 and not 3 as circled in the picture?

    Yeah, start at the fuses.
I don’t have the diagrams in front of me right now, or I could suggest where to start.

Correct pin #4, typo on my end.

    Update: I corrected the image.

I checked the fuses and the only one that was bad was the 7.5A ODB fuse in the fuse box under the driver side dash.

My battery also died and was at 55% when checked this morning. I'm going to charge the battery and replace the fuse, hope that does it.

    Thanks everyone, TW is awesome!

Happy AF! Replaced the fully charged battery and the fuse and truck started right up. I was so worried I had caused damage to the ECU.

Glad it worked out for you. Stuff like this is why I'm very leery of doing electrical work on newer vehicles. I used to do a lot of it, but I've read too many horror stories on TW, so I do only very simple stuff. And I disconnect the battery.

Make a new jumper. Or ten. ;)
