    Corporations pushing only shareholder value at all costs has been screwing things up long before DEI became a thing.

    Both can be true. If a company does not start by hiring the most qualified this will affect quality of goods and services. It's undeniable.

    As we've seen, outsourcing for cheaper labor has had the biggest effect on quality, with the sole purpose to drive shareholder returns and started decades ago.

    Generally speaking, companies exist for the sole purpose of creating wealth for owners. It's up to the market to decide whether those profits materialize.

    I don't disagree that their goal is to make profits but the swing to shareholder returns at all costs has had a negative effect to quality and employees. The pendulum has swung too far and really needs to move back.

    This is just a small example:

    From 1979 to 2020, net productivity rose 61.8%, while the hourly pay of typical workers grew far slower—increasing only 17.5% over four decades (after adjusting for inflation).

    Employees are free to offer their labor to another employer if they believe a better deal is to be had. If no better deal exists, then the market has determined the value of labor.
    Alternatively, they can try to secure sufficient capital to create their own company.

    Non-competes, lack of other sufficient employers in the market, offshoring, etc. all undermine employees. There should be a balance between shareholder value, profits and also taking care of your company and employees. We used to have a thriving middle class in the US. Now not so much.

    Do you really think CEOs bring the value they are compensated?

    • from 1978–2022, top CEO compensation shot up 1,209.2% compared with a 15.3% increase in a typical worker’s compensation.

    • In 2022, CEOs were paid 344 times as much as a typical worker in contrast to 1965 when they were paid 21 times as much as a typical worker.

    No one is forced to sign a non-compete.
    If there aren't enough jobs in your skill category, then you either need to move to where the jobs or re-train to do something else.
    Offshoring is a function of labor market forces.
    It's up to the market to find a "balance" of nearly everything. Including profits. And whatever "taking care of your employees" means.
    If you don't like the current "balance" of all things business, then start your own company. Pay yourself the same wage as everyone else on your payroll. Ask customers to pay what they feel is appropriate for your goods or services. See how it works out.

    Regarding CEO pay... it's the responsibility of the Board of Directors (elected by the owners of the company) to determine whether CEO compensation is appropriate. If you have equity in a company and think the CEO is making too much, then vote for different representation on the board.

    That is disgraceful especially for the price. My 2023 red sr5 has maybe 2 tiny dirt nibs throughout the entire truck. Color/clear is evenly laid out . Bueatiful paint work from the factory. Your trucks paint us completely unacceptable. I did notice the same thing with 4th gen’s on the lot, the one “underground” color Tacoma I seen was horrible. I could see through the paint , not enough color or clear laid out just looked really bad
