My 4th gen Tacoma came with the distributor-installed DC Dash Cam. I really didn't want this $499 "option", but it came on the 4X4 truck that I did otherwise want. My question is to those with dash cam experience, what is it good for, long term?

Just in case you want to take it off a sweet jump to show your friends, or the world.

I'm too old to go out that way (and the 4th gen was too damn expensive).

I've had dash cameras on my vehicles for a decade. Currently running a Garmin on my 2016. I think all vehicles should come with them. If you get in a wreck, they don't lie. I've also had critters run across the road and other junk of interest.

If you don't want it, I'm sure somebody on here will buy it.

Me? I'll install my Garmin when I get my 4G.

    Not for $499, I don't. :cookiemonster:

I just picked up a cam for the new car with a decent CMOS sensor, motion detection, and hardwire kit for 120 bucks bundled.

The only hard part is hardwiring stuff into a Miata. I might need to borrow some tiny hands. :anonymous::anonymous:

All cars should have a dash cam. People do some dumb shit driving out there and/or lie, can definitely save your ass given no other drivers are gonna stick around to wait on police to show up and back you up.

I stupidly rear ended someone a few years ago mildly. Other car already had a massive dent in the back. I sent the screen caps to my insurance so the other driver couldn’t try and claim I did all that other pre-existing damage.
