2022 TRD Sport has no remote release for fuel door - is this true of all models

It strikes me as odd that a modern 2022 vehicle has no deterrent to messing with your fuel supply. Do any of the 3rd Gen Tacomas come with a remote release for the fuel door/is it even an option? Thanks

You can’t siphon gas through the filler neck.

If somebody wants your fuel they’ll just drill the tank.

In my experience, the risk comes more from people putting sh*t in your tank and causing expensive problems

I don't really worry about fuel theft, I am more concerned that some dirtbag will pour something into my gas tank.

My solution is to not drive my truck into San Francisco

I wish I had something better to offer.

moved to a different neighborhood or buy a house with a garage. If you have people dumping stuff in your fuel tank, you need to take a look at what you’ve done in life too get this type of treatment

I suppose it's a small town, random stupid stuff bored people do kind of problem. The garage is for other wheeled things that turn money into noise :)

I don't believe any of the Tacoma models or generations had them.
While we are on the subject; be sure to lube the spring and hinges on the fuel door, once it seizes up, it'll bend and have you looking to a new fuel door assembly and paint to match.

I've lived in 12 states and three different countries and spent time in almost all 50 states. Never once has someone put something in my gas tank. It falls in the category of not even worth spending time considering in my experience.

Idiots abound in this world, I wouldn't fault the OP for the failures of modern society.

Yep, much more likely to get contaminated fuel from a station.

That's the interesting challenge with low likelihood high (relatively) consequence risks... I am aware of it happening more on heavy iron than light vehicles - why that is, I have no idea

My 2024 Tundra has a manual fuel door and a cap. My wife's 2023 Odyssey has a manual fuel door and is capless.
I truly don't think I have ever owned a vehicle with a release lever.

Our 2019 Rav4 has a remote release but I hear what you are saying, the feature is far from standardized.

Locking fuel door won’t stop that.

My locking fuel door broke on my Macan and I pried it open with a plastic panel removal tool.

My 2000 PreRunner had a locking fuel door that used the ignition key to unlock it.
