I’m considering offering my recently purchased hard shell and going back to my softopper, but wondering what I would do with the wiring that was installed with the shell? Would that all have to be removed and given to the buyer? Just unplug from the harness and they have to get their own wiring set up? Can it just remain wired up in my truck without plugging into anything? Total idiot with this stuff, thanks.

My 2 cents. Unplug topper from the harness and you are done. Unless you have a dome light, it's probably just a flat 2 pole trailer plug for the top brake light. Even if you do have more than the basics, let the buyer worry about it. I bought a used topper last weekend. It was basic with the trailer plug and pretty easy to wire. Should 15 minutes to pop out the brake light and wire in a tap. 30 minutes if you are like me. ;-) Your existing plug should be fine but tape the ends if you are worried.
