    3. If the 4th digit from the end of the VIN is a letter, any letter, it means the vehicle is in transit.

This one is wrong. If it is a letter then it is still in allocation and scheduled to be built. When it is built it will get a permanent VIN with no letters in the last 6.

    Yes, and yes you do.

Your literacy skills clearly need help as well. The salesmen more or less said hey pal, you can't afford this, and you somehow took it as the answer to your financial troubles...by digging yourself further into debt? Man, this thread needs to go in the hall of fame. Or Guam.

And calling everyone on this forum a bunch of kindergarteners and cursing people out only further proves your own point. Probably time to take your communications abilities back on over to facebook.
Shoot, it ain't even friday yet.

    Mods?

Putting down a deposit on a vehicle, making a selection of that vehicle from what a salesperson may pass along to you from incoming vehicles to that dealership (or associated dealerships) then receiving a vehicle spec sheet (with VIN for tracking), and a copy of the window sticker, and then... saying "yes" to that given vehicle is the way Toyota has operated in new Tacoma (and some other model) sales in the past number of years.

But, I caution you, this statement "to make sure they configure it exactly the way I want..." is a loaded one. There are only so many things they can do to configure it exactly the way you want. Port additions and dealer upgrades are usually open to change, but anything else is less likely. For instance, pulling the front "iso-dynamic" seats out of a PRO sale. Or deletion of the disconnecting sway bars. Of course, a PRO is most likely already configured as you might want it. I am uncertain what port additions could be modified (floor mats, splash guards, and sliders? or are those things just "modified" once received at the dealer?), along with any film based paint protection that might be applied at the dealer. As an example, my 2021 did not come with any film based paint protection, it was applied at the dealer for an extra charge.

IMO, you need to find another salesperson and/or dealer just based on your accounting of your current experience. My own experience in 2021 was straight forward as indicated above. In fact, there was no attempt at trying to get me to consider some other vehicle or any other sales related technique.

    Good luck!

Jeep bro drops into enthusiast forum to try and argue allocation process from current owners with experience and then talks about their negative equity and trying to get a loan for the highest trim. Maybe listen to some Dave Ramsey podcasts and reaccess your finances bud. But to each their own. At least you are moving to a taco.

Jesus man… why are you shopping new trucks again ? Especially brand new model year trucks that are really expensive. It seems like your budget is really stretched as is. And you’re looking to double your car debt

You’re looking at 65-70k post tax Toyotas. What’s your spec on the gladiator and what do you owe?

what’s your logic behind negative equity on the truck ? I’m not following. Is the trade on value they are giving you far below what you think it’s worth in the private market ?
