Going to do reviews from now on every time I try a sample or new bottle.

This is ASW’s Fiddler Georgia Heartwood, which is finished with its namesake Georgia oak heartwood, staves that have been cured and charred. All single barrels, with variety in number and char level of the finishing staves.

Smells great, sweet with toffee, butterscotch and ethanol. On the palate is largely sweet flavors. Maple comes forward first, followed by a mix of butterscotch, toffee and caramel. And some almost spiced rum-like flavors. Tasty but not particularly complex.

The finish is thin and quick, more maple.

I have a sweet tooth, so this one gets a 7/10 for me, just wish it was thicker/creamier with a longer finish.

Curious your thoughts on the 12yr. My local store has plenty but I haven’t tried one yet.

I don't know why I'm so hooked on it, but man, I totally dig the ASW Fiddler!

I'm going through this comparison phase right now. Craft distillers, vs. the old guard like EHT, Willet. Last night was battle of the MGP's; Old Elk Infinity, Magnus, and Fox and Oden double oaked. For the money, I'm gonna say, they are all overpriced, and a $65 Frey ranch beats them all. But, alas, the battle last night went to Fox and Oden ($90 MSRP). Old Elk Infinity 2022, was too oak forward for me, Magnus (not the cigar blend) isn't too bad, but it lacks the complexity, and finish of the double oak, even though they are both made at the same distillery owned by Wind Quest (DaVoss).

Very good. Checks all the boxes for me. It’s one of those I wish I could find easily enough to be a frequent sipper. Full of flavor - lots of vanilla and cinnamon for me - at a nice proof.

I really enjoy KC12, would definitely recommend you try. I always have a bottle open. Just a solid pour for the price and usually easy to find.

I have a few store pick KC Ryes in the 8y range. Very good stuff. Overholt's 10y was awesome. I'm down for older Beam rye.

Anyone wanna trade their Old Rip for a pair of Michter’s 10 years (one bourbon, one rye) and cash if needed? Or other bottles, just ask…

Tonight’s flight. I had high hopes for the Woodinville Colorado select caramel brûlée. 115 proof. Ethanol up front, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, some pepper and orange peel on the finish, with some burn. Can’t say that I’d buy another bottle. Tasted a bit of forced aging, and not really the sweet notes I was looking for…rough around the edges. 13th colony rye…solid, sweet, rye spices ..$44 and really nice lingering sweet rye flavor. Think raisins, and a bit of orange peel. Mid winters night dram, act 11, scene 8 , port finish. Everyone hates it, man I love it. Haters…send me yours
