Hi all, I've had some infrequent but annoying mildew type smell lately and after trying a few different things, following some advice on other threads, I removed the front cowling to clean it up and spray Lysol down the passenger side intake while cycling the AC thru different settings. It worked well, but on reinstalling the cowling I have a few questions that I couldnt find a super direct answer for:
    1. Despite my best efforts, I broke 2 clips removing the cowling and after looking at it re-installed, theres a slightly gap on some sections due to either missing clips or just by being removed for the first time since it was built. I dont remember what this looked like before I took it off so I can't compare to how it was before, but will this be an issue? I'm worried about water intrusion between the windshield and cowling and from there potentially into the air vent. Is there some kind of clear sealant I can apply to remove all doubt? See pic below with red arrows
    2. Referencing the pic above, i noticed this little vent in the cowling that was completely clogged with gunk in my case. I cleaned it out but I'm just curious what's its purpose? Just ventilation?
    3. Is there an kind of official spec for re-aligning the wiper arms? I kind of eyeballed it, knowing the passenger side is titled a bit and I'm close I think but wanted to be able to nail it down (OCD ya know)

Sorry for the wall of text but just wanting to rest my mind after seeing other posts about water problems in this same area.

Don't know about that cowling piece, but sometimes there's a mark on the windshield for where the wipers park. It'll be brown and T-shaped, or just a line. Or for next time, use a crayon or tape to mark their parking space.

Well yours still looks a lot better than mine and it's never been off. Most of the sealing edge on mine is broken off.

Your wiper looks high. Mine have never been removed.

I think your cowl is fine, looks a lot like mine. You can see a similar gap between the rubber and the windshield. See pic below. I have not any issues with water intrusion. Note, that is not a crack in the windshield, it's a reflection of the wiper arm.

Hope this helps eases your worries.
