Can anyone help me out here? I've got a 23 Tacoma 4x4 utility access cab. I wanted to upgrade my rims, just some simple black steel rims. Got some duremax tires, new, off a buddy cheap. 265 70/R16 .
So I go looking. And looking. I need a 16x7 6/5.5. Found that, checked multiple sites to verify rim will fit on my truck. The few that let you choose a 16" for a 23 say yes. Bought em, mounted, TPMS programmed... Go to install and they Won't clear the caliper. Needs more of a spacer then I want to add in order to make it work. https://www.ebay.com/itm/296380138095?fits=Year%3A2023%7CMake%3AToyota%7CModel%3ATacoma%7CTrim%3ASR+Extended+Cab+Pickup+4-Door%7CEngine%3A2.7L+2694CC+l4+GAS+DOHC+Naturally+Aspirated&itmprp=cksum%3A296380138095bb4dc6dd437449e8aba13af8cc64397a%7Cenc%3AAQAJAAABQInZv9%2BILEzGP6O3L3ZvKA8HuOTtyBQHBSGlMRNCiQ3%2B3nn4RdfzEpWTt0ivC0MBSxwFCKqtZlNcZr8lVeiUiV0qZjs2xvFGTrnAIA7k1omI1x70YttYp6ifPnBzJabe5qR6H09BLN6QRyM9NzsXrSxEii%2B3O4hMp04Ebc4JvoyhqZVX7zYcuPpxM87Hc8zBxXlBHNr7FpCr%2BmodZ%2Br9oWi8fkM%2BMDaHU1gQgIg2U50gGwSUI10Lzn02fU7WJhNOydjA8RgHT0G2EWcDCI%2B00NlZeLm1gX%2FRA7x3WUvbazmLQ7A6H3Vvwjt%2FKat88V5KRtW63PIU2JDBJCuV5ivTZdyoNYgGX91KK5k8QJ%2BXdEJBCEIYW7vBOK2BITVHyzYTq8ymOxEPBiyY%2BuBh5OVyCrmTWt8a9BhwNhP0F%2FYTeoTO%7Campid%3ApL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2332490&epid=20040645734&itmmeta=01HYKV5G8RACHJK560B0325PET
Of course now they have updated the listing on these rims saying that they don't fit my model but half the sites still say it will. Do you guys know What offset, backspacing is really needed on this model? Or a rec for a simple black steel rim that'll fit?

Measure the spare wheel and use those specs?

Or collect a set of spare wheels and use them as your 'new' wheels? (My method on my 2nd gen)

Spares in good condition are very hard to come by here. Heavy salt area.

No 3rd gens left in the scrap yards. Not local anyway.

    One more time........

Measure your own spare and you'll find the specs you need to shop for. Assuming you're willing to use factory specs. Which, BTW, you know will fit.

And I'm asking so I don't Have to pull the spare yet. If someone's already done it and has the measurements it saves me the Hassel.

Consider that lowering it may accomplish the following extra benefits

Flip it so the stem is down for easy airing.

    Lubricate the lowering mechanism

Access the structure that the spare hides to apply whatever rust inhibitor you use there in heavy salt world

    And measure the wheel.

Overall a pretty useful 30 minutes.
