Does anyone pop the hood on their turbo charged vehicle once they have parked to evacuate the excess heat from the engine bay?

Sometimes when I park in the garage I leave the door open for an hour, so that my living room doesn't absorb as much heat from my badass awesome driving habits.

I know that sounds dumb and probably won't make much difference, but I'll pop the hood after driving when it's really hot out. Usually only after my commute home when it's the hottest time of day. I figure as long as nobody steals my battery and I don't forget to close the hood before a thunderstorm it'll be fine.

Wire in a switch to reverse polarity at the electric cooling fan. That'll blow the air back out through the grill

Serious answer - it makes no difference to the items in the engine bay whether they are hot or cold. It doesn't need to cool down.

Everthing should be designed to handle the temps under the hood.

Shit. Allow me to revise my answer then.

Get an unlimited carwash package. Drive through on the way home. Booyah. Precooled vehicle.

I haven't taken a close look at the cooling system on one yet, but, most modern turbo charged cars, have a coolant after run pump. It runs for a ECU determined time after you shut off the engine to cool the turbo, to keep the oil from cooking and coking up the center section.

    It's a good idea.

On my last turbo car, when I'd get home I'd immediately pop the hood and spray cold water from the garden hose directly on the turbo and cats, because those are the hottest. I'd also spray water on the electrical connectors too, so they aren't too hot either.

    Cheers

My friend, who was handicapped, parked his turbo charged car in the garage.

It started a fire, whole house burned down & almost killed him.

Beware of your surroundings, lol ;)

It's water and oil-cooled. You might open the manual and see what it says about this. It's in there.

    None so far
When I used to do field engineering consultation, one of the rig supervisors (tool pushers) that would visit the locations would never shut off his pickup during the day, ever. He would pop open the hood and run the AC in the summer so as to never feel the hot ambient temps any more than possible. As I remember, he had a truck converted to LP propane (which burns extra hot). But he certainly wasn't the one paying the fuel bill.

I installed a mini-split under the hood. Just set the thermostat for 70 and go!

How did this fix his handicap? If he's passed now sorry but it says almost killed him. Was his handicapped fixed?

i usually keep a bottle of cold engine oil in my garage fridge. Change the hot oil out for cold on warm days.
