Hey! I’m looking for some advice on what kit to buy to lift my truck and get a better ride going fast on gravel roads. I have a 2019 Tacoma sr5 with basically stock everything. I’ve also got a set of new wheels and tires sitting at home but the tires are 285s and I sort of want to get a lift on before I put those on. I’ve been looking at Bilstein 6112’s but I’m really not sure what to buy. Should I get a leaf pack and Lca’s or uca’s or do I not need those? Seems like the kits you can buy online have so many different options and I’m not quite sure what I need for the 6112s to fit my truck.

Usually if you’re going 2” or more it’s good to get UCAs (I’d recommend JBAs). You don’t need a full leaf pack, you can get a 3leaf AAL or a block.
You need to figure out how much you intend to lift the truck, then you can figure out the other parts.

I just did my 13. I don’t do any off roading so I went the less expensive route. I used Rancho Quick lift coil overs and Rancho UCA. Install went pretty easy except the rear bolt on top of the strut was tough to get off. I forgot to measure before and after lift height but is is really good looks much better. In the rear I used Firestone lift bags. I often carry firewood and wood chips. They work great, install was easy.

    I did 6112s.

    Here's my list:

6112s set to middle perch. (1 inch lift)
    5160s rear
    Icon 3 leaf AAL.
Sway bar removed, tossed into cursed burial grounds and forgotten about.
    255/75/17

And that's all I needed. If I had to do it again I would have gone the full RXT leaf pack, but the el cheapo AALs do the job for now.

Overall it handles supremely well, it gets compliments, and it isn't so outlandish that it punishes performance. It still tows, it still corners and cruises on the highway, and off pavement it says "what washboard?"

Looking nice! Have you gained a considerable amount of travel with the sway bar removed?

A little bit, but surprisingly that's not where I see the real benefit. When the fronts are tied together they lose the freedom to absorb an impact, especially on uneven terrain. Hit a pothole on one corner, and the bar will force the other to respond to it.

Articulation might be the magazine cover shot, but the real benefit is making moderate to high speed gravel smooth as silk. :cookiemonster:
