    Hi all,

The missus and I are installing side rails on our Tacoma today. The bolts are already in the body so all we have to do is remove them and reinstall them to install the side rails.

Question is, does anyone know the torque value for those bolts? Thanks for any insight you have.

When removing the bolts it looks like the factory torqued them to ~15nm which seems super low but what do I know. I'm just some hack that is so incompetent I once burned the house down while trying to hammer a nail.

So, blue loctite and torque them to 15nm? Or am I going to die? BTW that's a trick question; we're all going to die.

So you're just going to let me die because of insufficient torque just to wallow in your gluttony of photographs? Well ok then!

On things like this I just go till it is good and tight but not with a long breaker bar, just a 12 inch ratchet.

Are those Toyota side rails? If not, what brand are they?

My rule of thumb is "if it ain't stripped it's too loose". But in this case I decided to do 15nm.
