Hello Everyone! joined to get some help on multiple things. It seems like it has become super hard to find replacement parts for my Tacoma. I currently have a 2016 Tacoma Limited 3.5l V6. I would like some help or any suggestions on Door edge guards color 1D6 silver metallic. I CANNOT seem to find anything. At this point I am looking at even putting on some clear ones.
I was told that PT9363517124 would fit but inserted my VIN and it doesn't fit.
If anyone has any suggestions or has found an alternative solution, please shoot it my way :)

Have you tried going to the closest dealer’s parts department?

I found door guards by the foot I purchased enough for both my truck and wife suv. They are black but other colors and clear were offered. I have had them on the vehicles for 2 years. Still on and saved several door corner chips. I think Amazon what’s where I purchased the gaurds

I put on the OEM Toyota color matched door edge guards not too long ago (PT936-35171-11). They look decent now that they are on, but it was a huge PITA. Had to kind of beat the hell out of them. If you do get the OEM ones, have the dealer install. If I was to do it again and install myself, I would go aftermarket.

The issue that I have been having is when I type in my vin and car information onto any Toyota website, it always says "part might not fit". upload_2024-5-7_17-45-33.png
Curious to know if anyone has installed this part number and did it fit(PT936-35171-11)? I can always get long role and just cut where appropriate but would love Toyota one first. what do you guys think?
This part number (below) is the only that fits according to me plugging all my info in, but color does not match upload_2024-5-7_17-47-38.png

The part # you have is correct

I've done a few of these and they are VERY tricky. You have to follow the instructions explicitly. I ruined the first set by using too big a mallet. Using the smaller double sided mallet they show in the instructions and using light, deliberate taps was part of the key as well as getting it lined up perfectly to the contours of the door. You may also have to remove some door sealer material. All mentioned in the instructions. Even some templates you tape around your door handles to properly align the guards.

Out of curiosity, what was the pain about it? The glue residue or the install it’s self?

Mine came with them as a port add on which I wanted. I'm pleased with them so far.

Thank you, @M85. Not only is it expensive, but it looks pretty difficult to put on with any precision...

It's easy enough. Work from the outside, and eyeball the center of the strip along the edge of the door. Stick it down on the outside, then fold it around the edge. Hardest part is not getting fingerprints on the adhesive. And on the inside where multiple seams overlap it doesn't always adhere well.

It's not worth $45 at all. There's nothing special about it other than being a convenient size. I probably paid $20 (which still seems like too much), but I can't find it in my Amazon history. For $45 you could probably just about pay a PPF place to do it for you.

Here's a cheaper one. You'd have to measure and see if 12ft is enough. Otherwise get 100ft and do multiple cars. I like to do at least a few inches of the bottom edge of the door to provide some light protection from landscaping and curbs. It doesn't survive hitting a curb, but at least it helps reduce the damage. Not a common problem on a Tacoma, but my commuter car is a Prius, and the doors just barely clear a standard curb. On a slope or with a taller than normal curb the door hits.

I think I have also cut strips from a wider roll of paint protection film. It's not very noticable when it's installed, so it doesn't have to be perfect (in my opinion).

    Hello all,

Update: I finally received the part (2 weeks later) and it is not what I was expecting. I was expecting to get something identical to what my Tacoma has right now, but I received a part that is way thinner, shorter, and it is made out of aluminum. Is this what I was supposed to be expecting? Either way I think I was return and just buy a universal part like mentioned above ^ :)
