nah its pretty forceful. you must be the same guy saying "house prices will come down, just dont buy it! no one is forcing you!" meanwhile people dont have the time to wait an unknown amount of time to find the perfect deal. for most people they cannot wait years to go on with life.

Exactly. Those who have the luxury of waiting, then they probably should. Especially if they are financing. The rest buy when they have to buy.

PS: when inflation got uber insane back in the 70's, many were saying prices and interest rates would never come back down to reasonable levels. They were wrong.

You must be the same guy who doesn't understand (or appreciate) how a free market operates.
    Hint: it's all around you.

But if you really think you're being forced to buy a new $50k truck, then take an adult with you next time you go vehicle shopping.

No power down low huh? Max torque of 479ft/lbs @2000rpm on the LX so help me understand that one. Oh and there is no electric motor on the LX. Are you sure you actually drove one?

    Not wrong.
In my life time, I remember a new beach house in San Diego for $14,000.
I also remember $0.17 gasoline, $0.50 boxes of 22LR cartridges, and a new Chevy van for $2,700.
I also remember when $25 would feed a family with groceries for a week.

Anybody who thinks prices and interest rates will come down, is sadly mistaken.
I'd gladly pay those 1970 prices, compared to today.
Our place in San Diego is priced around $2.3 million today.. no way I could ever buy that.

:thumbsup:Our world is changing but I have a hard time seeing where it has gotten better.
Sometimes things need to get worse before than can get any better I guess.

my dude, it’s not the 90’s or early 2000’s anymore. Turbo motors are making power at very low RPM’s these days. I’m not saying they are the long term reliability choice (I think that are not) but from a drivability standpoint they are really good..

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
I agree with that. The turbo engines nowadays has good drivability.

I've tried both the 3.5 Ecoboost and the 5.0 from Ford. While I still prefer the 5.0, the 3.5 Ecoboost just makes more torque down low.

Another example, I tried the 2.0T and the 3.6 V6 on the Jeep Wrangler. The turbo 4 has more torque down low.

I read these posts, and it makes me even more grateful for my ‘22. Didn’t set out to buy it, as I already had a ‘21 Tundra is was mostly happy with. Long story short, ended up with my 3rd ever Tacoma, brand new in Oct ‘22, equipped the way I’d always wanted (TRD-OR Premium Tech Package, 6MT). Just rolled 16k miles on it yesterday. Hope it outlasts me.

I also am very grateful for my 2023 for the above reasons.

I have less than zero interest in small displacement engines with turbos pretending to be bigger engines.
The increased power comes from increased combustion pressure and the increased strain on the moving parts.
The longevity simply isn't there, and I want nothing to do with that.

I have even less interest in EV vehicles and all their problems.

My 2023 just turned 1,000 miles since my purchase date last December 5.
    It will definitely outlast me.

My 1991 at 245k is still running just fine, but is showing the wear and tear of its age.

So the cycle continues; do people not realize this is the problem? Then you and someone else get to buy two overpriced cars from whatever dealer you trade in to...

Funny enough the T24-FTS that replaced the 2GR-FKS in the Tacoma actually has a lower compression ratio and less strain on the moving parts. Combustion pressure is far higher in any Toyota turbocharged diesel and half this forum would sacrifice their mom in a volcano in order to have that holy grail.

Any documentation to back up your claim of longevity? The 2GR-FKS isn't exactly a stellar performer in the longevity category with many documented failures on this forum alone.

Turbocharged diesels are heavy engines, many with six bolt mains and large bearings designed for that big push.
Squeezing more performance out of a smaller displacement engine requires more force turning the drive shaft.
The harder you work a mechanical device, the faster it fails.

2GR-FKS seems to have all sorts of problems related to mechanical complexity (VVT-i) and so forth.
It is an Atkinson cycle design with a high static compression ratio, which is mitigated by cam timing.
Otherwise, it would not run on 87 octane fuel without detonation or pinging.
Blowing out the main and rod bearings from over pressure isn't one I see mentioned.

The turbo Ford F150 has dismal reliability and eats turbos.
My son-in-law has one, and is facing a several thousand dollar turbo replacement with modest mileage.

Most drivers don't know much about the care and feeding of turbos.
Such as a 90-second idle before shutting down the engine to allow the turbo to cool a bit to avoid boiling its oil into varnish.

As to documentation, my opinion is my own and based on my experience as an engine builder and professional mechanic.
As such, I won't ever own a small turbo engine, nor one with EV batteries.

Toyota is forced by the gov't to build vehicles expressly for fuel economy, not for engine longevity.
If one has to buy a new vehicle every 50k miles, this would delight the company.
