Now I’m having an issue with a crank no start. Yesterday I installed aftermarket fog lights (tapped into low beam wire) and everything worked out fine. Drove it and everything went perfect until this morning when I tried getting to work and all I got was a crank no start. I retraced my steps thinking maybe I tapped into something I wasn’t supposed to, removed the fog light wire and reconnected only the low beam wire itself and nothing. I checked every fuse possible that could be linked to ignition and fuel and everything was fine. Swapped a known good relay into spots that covered ECU and IGN and still nothing. The Check Engine light was not triggered so there’s no codes to go off of. It’s like ever since I got this truck I’ve been coming across issues and this is basically my home now. I need all the help I can get! Please and thank you in advance!

Does your check engine light turn on with the key on?

could of possibly shorted and the battery possibly drained a bit? have you tried a jump start just incase? Can you read the voltage on a meter at the batteries?

    How are your spark plugs?

Battery is still good. Tried adding a jump to it just in case and it did nothing. Spark plugs were changed last week. I figured it would throw a code if the spark plugs were faulty. Maybe run rough due to a misfire but nothing.

fuel pump? MAF sensor? could be a bad fuel pump relay?

So I swapped out the relays that linked to the fuel pump and they were all good. I didn’t get under the truck to listen for the fuel pump engaging but instead I hear a steady ringing sound coming from the engine bay and couldn’t not pin point where it was coming from. Not sure if it even did that before. At this point I’m over thinking everything so it might be normal.

I have not checked the MAF sensor. Is there a way to check if it’s any good instead of assuming and buying one when it might not be it? I’m kinda on a tight budget.

MAF sensor wouldn't cause a no start, can you pull a coil and see if you have spark.

I'm assuming it's a 2.7L since you have a regular cab according to your profile but make sure the security light next to the clock isn't flashing with the key on.

I do have a 2.7 sorry for not being specific. I will do so when I get home from work. Wanted to have some ideas ready so I can tackle this as soon as I got home. So just pull the plug out and start it to see if it sparks ?

Ok so it shouldn't have an immobilizer unless it's a Canadian truck.

You can, just be careful that nothing can fall down the hole while the plug is out.

If you have a scan tool you might check it for codes as well and also look at data to see if it has an RPM signal.

So there’s spark on every cylinder and it does have rpm signal ranging from 100-350rpm. I went under the truck while my wife turned the key to the ON position and did not hear the fuel pump whine. Completely silently besides the front of the engine bay where I can still hear a constant whine. Is there any specific fuse or relay dedicated specifically to the fuel pump ? I can’t seem to find one?

Toyota doesn't have a key on prime, the pump only runs during cranking and after the engine has started.
The fuel pump is powered by the C-OPN Relay.
You can check power going to the fuel pump at Connector IB1 Pin 8 (Black/Red) behind the left kick panel, I'll have to post the location of it when I get home unless @TnShooter is around he might have it.

Here you go, should have power at IB1 Pin 8 (Black/Red) while cranking.

sorry for not replying but these diagrams helped me out a lot. Checked the IB1 pin and it did have power when cranking. Looked over everything again last night and still could not figure out what was wrong with it. I tried starting it this morning… and it started right up. I shut it off 4 time and it started up with no issue. So now what the hell do I go off of? It’s running like it wasn’t just sitting for 3 days not starting. So now I’m worried it won’t start a week or so from now lol.

Maybe the IB1 connector was loose or not making good contact?
    Maybe you fixed the issue?

All you can do now is wait and see.
    Hopefully it's fixed......

I was going to comment the same.. I seem to recall reading a very select number of issues over the years with IB1 corrosion or poor contact

But if that were the case it should have started last night after re-seating the connector?

Yeah, he said he checked the connector for power.
But the truck wont crank with the connector unplugged.
I wasn't sure if he actually tried to start the truck last night after checking?
He never said, maybe he will post back a tell us if he had the problem AFTER plugging the connector back in?
