ISSUE: Frequently my phone and truck stop communicating with each other.
    • Frequently I get the message that the phone needs me to put my pass code in again to talk to the truck. Usually happens if I turn the truck off - leave the phone plugged in and run in to grab donuts. Back in the truck 5 minutes later and the phone acts like "hey this truck is new! Put your password in to use the unrecognized USB device."
    • Also while driving, the music stops, the map stops, etc. Not all apps at once. Just one.
    • When driving, voice to text via Siri - I'll be sitting at a light with the AC off (quietest it is going to get) and tell her something in a clear firm voice and she thinks for a minute and comes back with "I'm sorry there seems to be a problem, try again." I've seen this in other cars when you have one or two bars but I'm sitting on 5 bars of 5G. And it will do this for the rest of that trip.

    Toyota blames Apple.
    Apple blames Toyota.
    I'm going bonkers.

Only thing that really seems to do anything is rebooting both the truck AND the phone. Doing one or the other is non-efective in correcting the issues.

Is there a fix for this?

what model iphone, and what version OS on both the phone and radio are you running?

it's over a decade ago, but i had learned the hard way back with the iphone 3g, i attempted running it well after the 3gs and iphone 4 were debuted. apple mucked about with it, and with every update it became worse and worse for just general use. eventually, i couldn't make it last more than 2 hours on a full charge in standby. i pulled it apart, changed the battery myself, it worked for a week, then started sucking the battery down again. this was a full 5 years before apple was officially investigated for intentionally crippling older phones via updates-- everyone told me i was the problem, apple couldn't possibly be doing that, and then 5 years later, turns out i was right...

unfortunately, it taught me a lesson that if one wants to use an iphone, you MUST be on the latest/greatest model, and anything less is bound to cause issues that absolutely no one can officially explain, but insist on being someone else's fault.

    Oh Good questions....
    iPhone 14 Pro Max
    iOS 17.5.1
Car Play version is what ever came with the Taco. I didn't know we could update it unless they are pushing updates over the air.
