I have a 2018 Tacoma lifted 2.5” with 5100’s. I want to get 1.5” spacers to use with my stock TRD sport wheels with 285/70/17 tires. Can anyone with personal expirence verify if this setup will rub?

I’m not 3rd gen but similar setup with mine. I suspect you will have rubbing and at minimum removal of front mud flaps. Maybe bottom edge of fender flare and massaging (melt mod) of wheel well liner. I would not get 1.5” but get 1.25” and invest in higher quality spidertrax, all pro and get the extended nuts for bolting the spacer to the hub. I got mine from all pro but I think the company has had issues since. Not sure if they are back to normal or still screwed up.

little bit of here and a little bit of that...
1.5 inch spacers, torqued to 90lbs - torque again after 2-500miles. NO Thread locks. Stock Trd pro 2020, No rub, kept mudflap on. This is for anyone looking for this info, for some reason I was struggling finding it. 9F513C27-A996-46F2-8353-E5E908D3EF46.jpg8ABF9FD8-AD04-437A-9DDF-CB50E5823699.jpg1ABB289D-2B47-47E3-8CE1-5A7502F3B0B8.jpgAE92E145-7B77-43AF-8702-D7DC64702E14.jpg

Reviving...backspacing means something different depending on the wheel width. Offset is relative to the center of the rim, and thus the position of the tire relative to the mounting point.

I think offset is a better measurement.

Case in point: offset is the same no matter what width. If you have a 0 offset wheel, and change the width from 8 to 9 (i.e buying a different wheel), the offset is the same, but the backspacing will change from 4 to 4.5. And both would put the tire in the same position; just the bead would be closer to the plane of the sidewall.

So backspacing doesn't necessarily tell you anything useful unless paired with the wheel width. The offset on the other hand will tell you something useful on its own.
