I have a set of method 16x8 0 offset wheels I'm going to be installing on my TRD off-road with my 265/70r16 tires

I'm going to assume the spare wheel marches the ORD wheels and is 16x7 +25

How important is it for the width and offset of the spare to match the other tires?
With all of the tires being 265/70, will running 3, 16x8 +0 with the 16x7+25 cause really bad stability problems or strain on steering components if I were to use it on the passenger front in the case I had to drive 100-200 miles on it to get back into town.

Trying to decide if I need to replace the wheel on the spare. I'm seeing lots of steel 16x8 -12 but nothing under the $170 price point for +0.

My instinct is telling me that I would need to drive on it as if it were a donut spare without the width and offset being the same as the 4 primary.

My other thought is just slapping a 1" spacer on the 16x7 +25 factory spare which should in theory bring the center of the tire pretty close to the 16x8,0 wheels? The profile wouldn't be quite the same but it'd probably be the absolute cheapest option aside from leaving things as is?

^The spare steelie is +10mm or +15mm if I remember correctly.

Spare wheel doesn't need to be the same width or offset (or even the same tire size) for driving just a few hundred miles. I've mixed 32"s with the OEM 31" spare for about 1200 miles. Adaptive cruise, stability control, MTS, etc. all worked with no issues.

That question is mostly a long range, off grid, offroader, where having to come back to a shop for a tire plug is a severe trip curtail, or whether you a near services offroader, where the early end of day is basically an inconvenience.
A full size 5th wheel and tire is valuable when needed on a trip however don't let it dry rot away over years especially when any front fitting wheel and near tire size, and wheel spacer if needed, can get you to a relatively close shop. At least rotate the full size spare in with the other 4.

I assume I'd just want to be certain to put the mismatched spare up front so it's not straining the differential?

Hmmm I'll see if I can figure that out for certain, I'm thinking of for cases where I'm 1-200 miles away from civilization such as the middle of a forest, between states or in the mountains

Mine was in the rear. No issues. No worthwhile strain on the diff because it's an open diff with no mechanical LSD.
