'09 2.7 A/C high pressure switch tap

I am looking for help to find a tap to hook up my electric fan so that it comes on when the A/C is turned on. Any help would be appreciated. TIA Cheers, Dave

 

One idea is to tap into the wire between the mag clutch and its associated relay. And use that to activate the positive side of a coil on a new relay that then feeds your fan. I think it's a purple wire. Don't have the wiring diagram in front of me but can post it later or someone else could.

BTW...another option if you want to remain isolated from the vehicle electrical system is to use a temperature switch (aka snap disc) to control the fan. Like

this or this. They come as NO or NC and you can get different temp set points and reset points. You can attach it anywhere you like...block, head, radiator, hose, A/C line and then determine what temp you want the fan to turn on and what temp to turn off. You can attach with plastic or steel wire ties or a hose clamp or epoxy it in place. This way you disturb the vehicle electrical system. Depending on the draw of the fan...you can wire directly through the switch or still use a relay if you like.

 

Thanks for all that. I've got a new temp. sender installed and the Derale fan controller has a rheostat for setting the fan on temp. And I believe the controller has a relay in it for the A/C, so just a 12v signal wire should suffice.

 

EA1 Pin 3 (Violet) is the power wire to the A/C compressor, you can use that to trigger the cooling fan to turn on with A/C.
You can't use the pressure switch as it's just a high/low pressure cutout.
You would need the Pressure Switch P/N 88645-04070 that comes in the condenser fan TSB kit to use for pressure based fan control but it uses a different connector (P/N 90980-10943) as it's a 4 pin switch, easiest just to use the compressor wire.
