I was thinking about the dovetail repair while I was on my walk this morning, thought I would ask @six5crèéd Shane and any of you other machinists for ideas.

I’ve already knocked the worst of the burrs off with a dovetail file but the blank seems to be catching on the rough edge along the round of the barrel. Think I should hit that rough edge a few more times with a file, send it to a gunsmith to be recut and an oversized blank fitted or try a warranty claim. I don’t expect option 3 to work since I had to take a file to it just to get the buckhorn sight back in.

I think option 2 is probably your best bet, doubt Ruger will do anything. Let a gunsmith make it new again without filing on it anymore

I went to tighten down a tiny screw in a fixture Wednesday and the head snapped right off as I was snugging it down. :bananadead:
Was lucky I was able to pull it back apart and throw some channel locks on what was left and twist it right out!

I'd try Ruger first. They may not do anything, but you won't know if you don't ask. I doubt you rifle is the first to have this issue. If Ruger won't fix it, then send it to a gunsmith.

Got to do some fabrication work today. Needed an in-between bracket to get from the rail bracket to the transducer bracket.
    Needed to join these two
    20240531_093505.jpg
So here's what I came up with
    20240531_093529.jpg
    A little trimming
    20240531_095036.jpg
    Here it is in place
    20240531_105637.jpg 20240531_105644.jpg
And joined with the other bracket
    20240531_110316.jpg 20240531_110324.jpg
    I'm happy with it.

Cut it apart, put in straight pieces. 20# of 7018 series rod should be enough!
