    Hey Everyone,

Jumped in my taco yesterday morning to find no blowing air in any fan speed settings at any temperature. Can feel heat through the vents but not enough to defrost anything. Was working just fine the night before. Was -5 that morning. Has anyone else had this problem or has any idea how to fix it other than slamming the glove box a few times or using a rubber hammer? I need to fix this ASAP cause its cold here in Colorado.

    Thanks!

Try reaching under the dash on the passenger side and give the blower motor a few smacks with the palm of your hand. When mine was acting up this would get it to work.

Nate-O is right. When the resistor in my 09 started failing I had to whack the motor once or twice a day to keep the fan working. Odds are that your motor is fine but you’ll need a new resistor.

My 2005 did the same thing for years. I had to keep wiggling the white wire on the connector plugging into the fan motor to get it to run on any speed but high. Finally a couple years back I had an electronics friend of mine look at it. The white wire had a bad connection at the plug-in connector. He re-soldered the white wire, plugged it back in and no problems since. Easy fix, cannot remember how many times over the years that I beat on the fan motor, wiggled wires, etc to get it to work. My guess is you have a connection problem.

Get a voltmeter out and check for voltage at the blower connector when in the fan on position to rule out a faulty blower before suspecting the resistor.

It's literally a little round flat thing sticking out towards your feet on the passenger side under the glove box.. Reach under there and tap it a few times, or smack it. If that doesn't work change the fan speed to 1-2 and try again.

They're cheap and easy to replace, like $40 if I remember. I had to replace mine around 70k miles.

Yes, there is a cheap resistor fix too.. I tried that with no luck, so wasted the funds on the resistor.

In my 06 the problem was at the fan speed resistor. It's behind and to the left of the blower motor. One terminal didn't look so good compared to the others. Bought a kit with resistor, plug, and crimps at Auto zone. Haven't had an issue since.
Sometimes it's on the back of the hvac knobs... That wasn't my issue though.

Hey Everyone I actually found the issue and resolved by literally hitting the motor. Thought it was a joke but it actually worked. Just a loose connection between the wires and motor it’s self. Thanks for all the responses!

could you pose a picture of what you describe? My fan blower most of the time only works on High speed... but sometimes all of the speeds work... then only the high speed.... Oi!

Glad it worked out for now...eventually you will probably have to replace some items like the resistor, the pigtail to the resistor, blower motor, some of these items or all. I smacked on my blower motor for a couple years and finally replaced the resistor and pigtall and everything is good now.
