Show me your garage set ups with your Tacoma

Mine is slightly wider 2-car, but it flits the truck and bikes so that’s all that matters.

 

ouuuuu as someone a little OCPD this makes me sweat behind the knees.

 

That’s clean, wish I lived somewhere I didn’t need walls but when it’s -40 a lot of the year a heated garage is just heaven.

I forgot to point out my prize possession…

My $85 Panasonic cassette player that I bought in 1985. Still going strong.

No more tapes, but I plug my mobile phone into and use USB Audio Pro to play Tidal music via the analog inputs on the cassette player. Works great.

 

Not exactly a man cave…

 

Mine is a typical suburban garage built in the 70s, 24 by 24, and includes (unfortunately) the washer and drier. When we bought the house, it had one light, two receptacles, a fold up door, no finish work, a stained floor, and a pile of junk left by the previous owner.
I sub paneled the garage, added a lighting circuit, 2 20 amp circuits to run the bench height receptacles on each wall, and a 220 50 amp circuit for welding/plasma with recepticles on two walls. I added a laundry sink, which is a game changer, lighting separated into switches depending on how much light I need, insulated and dry walled, it. Built some overhead storage, added an air distribution system (copper plumbed), heat, and some powered roof ventilation. We put in an insulated roll up door. I still need to replace the rear man door… someday.
I built the two benches. One is the pullman out of the master bath. I almost broke it down and threw it out. Medium grade cabinetry with oak door/cabinent fronts. I painted the fronts black, but plan on stripping them and staining them black. The top is 3/4 solid oak flooring. There is a receiver built in to take various tools such as a vice, a solid stock bender, bead roller, even a can crusher.
The larger bench is 10 feet, built from square tube, also includes a receiver, and is also topped with 3/4 oak flooring. The flooring is all solid, tongue and groove. I bought it from Lumber Liquidators, it was sold as unfinished, “utility grade” flooring because of the imperfections. Perfect. I love imperfect stuff. I glued and nailed it from the bottom, onto a plywood base, stained it, and finished it a marine grade clear. I edged it with some oak dimension pieces from HD, and added a back stop to keep things from rolling off. This bench is bolted to the wall and I have a fixture I built that goes into the receiver which works as an engine stand for a 4 cyl. I’ve thought about building one to hold a motorcycle engine, and another for a V8. Maybe.
There is a bench tucked below the left side of the bigger bench which rolls out and is for welding and dirty work. It also has a receiver.
Like any two-car that also holds cars, doing anything is like an advanced game of Tetris to get anything done. We may move at retirement, and what I am looking at is a a house with a nice 2 or 3 car and a separate 30x30 or so shop. The garage would be finished, and only used for the cars/motorcycles. Another option I really like is a three car, with bay 3 a motor home bay for a 40 foot vehicle. The tall bay would allow a lift, mezzanine storage, and all the room I need. If we stay here, I’ll build a large shed in the back and put all the wood working stuff in there along with steel and wood storage. I already have one for the yard work stuff.
No big whoop, but the garage lets me maintain the vehicles, build a few little things, repair stuff, and so on. That’s what I like to do, So a bigger, dedicated shop would be great. One of my friends has a dedicated wood shop and build spectacular things with tools from 100 or more years ago. No power stuff, no fasteners used, just old craftsmanship.
I still need a mill and a lathe, so I’ll need more room.

Oh man, you’ve got me beat. I still have my 1990 Panasonic cassette/CD boom box, and my 1986 Craftsman vacuum cleaner.

But the OCD… I still have the receipts!

 

Lol, I am having to get rid of Tacoma parts so the truck can fit in there! Cleared out Alot so far, no more engines, Anyone need a 2nd gen auto trans by chance? Or shop Crane/Cherry picker? Lol

 

I love these threads! Mines about empty as the house will be sold in a matter of days. I painted the walls, ceiling and cabinets. Insulated the garage door and added extra outlets with dedicated circuit breakers and some overhead shelving.

It's pretty tight with 2 vehicles. I don't think a mouse fart would fit.

The Swisstrax, Kranzle pressure washer, t.v., tool box, and a bunch of other memorabilia and misc stuff is in storage. The plan is to find a place with a 3 car garage or a space to build a small shop.

Obsessed Garage was and is the inspiration.

I'll miss a few things, but I won't have to look at my hoarder neighbors across the street anymore or deal with any of the HOA's b.s.
I might be getting a boat or wave runner soon too!

 

I like to hang dry my delicates too inside the garage to give them that nice oil and gas aroma.

 

….hey, that's an idea.
But hey, she gave me a spot for the truck, baby steps.

What the second side was used for for years

 

I have never seen a liquid cooled guitar. Can you show it work? Does the pump make it sound wierd?

 

Used to fish wires, just getting the tubing through is tough

 

I upgraded the pickups, wiring, pots and switch's on that Gretsch. The tubing slides on the threaded end of the control pot that sticks up from inside the guitar, you pull the tubing up out of the hole for that control pot and the threaded end comes up.

You can see the pots already soldered to the harness running to the pickups ready to be fed into the pickup cavity and pulled up out of their respective holes.
