My camper is a hard side but I can confirm - mine keeps the wife and I plenty toasty down to single digits, and that's on the lowest setting and windows cracked with the maxxfan keeping the moisture at bay (from us, not from the heater - the heater puts out absolutely dry heat)

As @Profloundering said, in a hard side it keeps us nice and warm. We were well into the negatives (F) in January and the rear of the camper near the fireplace was close to 70, while the front in the bed/nose over the cab was around 50. A lot of people in the Scout group freak out as soon as the camper can't be kept in the 70s, but I think that's doing pretty good. If it's at freezing, that thing will cook you out at night. We found recently you can turn it down below low, and that can help. But the main thing is keeping the top window open a bit to help control heat and moisture (from our breath), and possibly even the side windows cracked. It's really a bummer you can't get the Newport in the Scout anymore (not as a factory option, although sometimes they'll install after purchase).

Altitude can also be a problem, as it was built for yachts so jetted for sea level. I've been over 6000 feet with no issues, but not sure I've tried much higher. There is a high altitude kit available, but never felt the need to get it.

It was actually one of the main reasons we bought the Scout. Thought that thing was cool. Ambiance is great with the flames going on a chilly night.

My truck is getting the reverse lean. From a lot of reading and from my buddy's truck doing the same thing, I'm pretty sure it's the torque twist from heavy hauling/towing (at least on mine and my buddy's rig). I actually hitup Deaver awhile back to see if there would be an issue me swapping my leaf packs side to side, as they are supposed to be side specific. They told me no issue, and to give it a try. Unloaded my truck looks normal, but it's cause they're fully maxed out, lol. It's just when I have the camper on, and you can really see it then.

I didn't want to risk airbag failure. I recommend them to people who don't always have their camper loaded, but if loaded 90% of the time or more, I definitely recommend the Deavers. I hardly ever use my truck unloaded. It just sits in the driveway as a spare vehicle and I drive the wife's car everywhere (she works from home 100% currently).

I've been thinking about it getting bags. My truck is usually not loaded and sits pretty good, however when I've the rack, tent, and a bed full of gear, it's got a bit of a squatted truck look.

If anyone is in the market for a topper for a 2nd Gen, found this on . Snatch it up before it's gone! Only $800 and 500 lbs.
