Do you have a “T” harness to feed my 3 rd brake light on my cap Ive ordered, this is my 4th Tacoma and I don’t want it to be the first butchered with taps in the very small tailight wires on the 4th gens? Thank you; Shermo1961

Haven’t figured out 4th gen yet. Wanna take some photos of any connectors inside your taillight cavity?

At work now but I certainly will, I can’t be sure , but I believe there is just one connector on the tailight. I think 4 wires , prob 18 ga. Color blind so can’t help there, will try and get pics tonight, around 7 eastern std time

@Shermo1961 Question for you: are the Tacoma lights the same as the Tudras as far as the brake and turn signal being shared? Would you mind checking that too? I am not sure if it the truck needs to be running or anything (probably? So try it that way) With the brake pressed, turn on the turn signal and see if that side has the brake light begin to flash. Does that make sense?

4 wires certainly sounds like shared brake and turn.

I will check that tonight, if in the future you pull the taillight on a 2024 slide a rag under the corner of the taillight as the corner of the light is sharp, the clearance is nil and the paint is soft

There ya have it! That is the only wire connector. The stop light of course will flash when the turn signal is on, the light pattern is identical for stop , or turn. Very narrow strip of clear across the middle that is the backup light. Led for most all except front turn signals from what I’ve read .

Awesome. That is what I kind of expected to see. Good to see the type of plug they used though. Dave and I are really familiar with that one. One more (stupid probably) question: the 2024s come equipped with the trailer plug, right?

I have no reason to be here or to ask since it does not look like your truck has it but what about if the light has the tailgate up/down button?

So we are close to knowing how to build a 4th gen DIR now, just need to identify reverse and ground. Pretty sure I see ground so I’d guess reverse is red and parking light is green.

Nice, the ARE cap guy called said I’m ordered up, 4 or 5 weeks out so looks like a little time for product development if you want , If you build it I will buy it. lol. Sadly in NY you can’t leave the lot if the 3rd brake lot is inop on a new cap purchase. Thanx much for your time, just let me know.

Curious how the shop would solve if they do install.

I didn’t ask but as they 50 miles from my home (upstate kinda spread out) they will be doing the install if I’m not prepared. If I had to guess , prob have to tap both brake light wires at the lights or in the trailer harness and use a logic box but I really am not sure.

Is it possible to call and ask? We can definitely build T harnesses to avoid splices.

Finally got him, nice man , busy but nice. Without seeing it he said likely would grab brake/turn from each side, mount LED
specific logic box behind d/s tailight and run wires up through corner of box to brake light connector. Also discussed another option using an application specific T connector in the 7 pin trailer harness that splits signal to a 4 pin flat on through logic box and to the light,

Did he spell out which logic box?
Some of / most of our concern is potential signal delay.

Nope , he did not, didn’t want to be overly intrusive so I didn’t think to ask for further details
